At least you will be able to spot him easy.

Other than the god awful livery, the car is running so much negative rake that it looks like it's taking a shit.

Negative rake.....the buzzword no-one wants to hear.

Oh, so it'll fly just as well if not better than the old car then?

Good Job Indycar!

It definitely seems to be having a negative rake, but it's hard to tell from this angle whether it's more dramatic than before or not. The shadows are masking the area where the bottom line is.

The good thing is that teams are now allowed to play more with the wing angles like they've been allowed to do at Indy only before. This should prevent them from playing that much with the rake when they can adjust the wings. Also, it should make the driving more challenging and reduce pack racing.

Teams were testing different setups at Texas, the setup with negative rake, that they used in the picture, might not be the ideal for the new car.

Sarah Fisher Racing wil most likely get the Honda engine deal that was supposed to go to RLL's 2nd entry.

And like F1 you get much cooler on-board angles in testing than you get during the race!

Would love to see that sidepod cam in a racing situation!

Flat out around Phoenix though, the horror!

Fuck you NASCAR for flattening the place

Fuck you Indycar for allowing your car to run flat out...

Actually the banking of Phoenix hardly changed during the repave, the radius of the corner is a little larger.

To be fair, I doubt the chassis or engine are anywhere near the edge. Still quite early in the process and they can't really afford to take a chance at wadding up a chassis yet.

Erm, it changed quiet a bit, went from 8-9 in turn 1 to 10-11, from 0 in turn 2 (dogleg) to 11, and 6-7 to 9-11 in turn 3.

I was watching the 2000 IRL race from Pheonix last night & they had a similar angle:

Sarah Fisher's team now have a Honda engine thanks to Bobby Rahal:

You know, this will be a bit of a rant but whatever.

In the last few months we've seen that the new car is not only revolting ugly (despite the teams efforts at disguising it with some beautiful liveries), it's suffering from the same issues which the old car did which made oval racing poor. Realistically, we've got a new car, but it isn't looking promising. Engine wise, we're a step backwards. The engines are far too expensive, but they have to be supplied to the teams at a cost, which means engine suppliers are making a loss. So now they are trying to supply the minimum amount of engines, rather than prepared for the maximum, which according to the rules, means only 80% of the grid doesn't have engines. Then throw in that Lotus are supplying less than Chevy and Honda, and it looks even worse. The engine situation is a joke - how can the rules be setup in such a way that teams that can afford engines, can't find any because the suppliers can't afford to supply them?

Times like this make me think that Tony George was quietly doing an all right job. We all hated him, but would IndyCar be in this state under him? I'm not so sure.

That's exactly what that article I linked to from the long time engineer said.

The new guys know exactly what they want but no idea how to go about it. They lack technical knowledge (always have done on that end) Randy is a good businessman but lacks racing nous and they're just stumbling around trying to make some progress when no-one has any idea how to do it and they're too stubborn to admit any of this and get in some people who would actually help them.

I just can't bring myself to watch Texas and Fontana with this car knowing its pretty much going to race exactly the same as the old car.

I'm quite possibly the only one who likes the looks of the new car. And I like it a lot.

Apart from that, I agree with you on the engine supply issue. It just doesn't make sense. There's a risk we'll be back to a single chassis, single engine series soon.
