Kanaan's livery at present probably will recieve mixed reviews:

At least you will be able to spot him easy.

I hope those colours are because of a sponsor? Because otherwise the man designing that should be fired.

Are they waiting to announce another sponsor? Because that is not Geico racing colors.

Just read that the oval package allows them to trim out the cars like they do at Indy, on the other big ovals. Hopefully having less downforce and less drag can allow the cars to do proper races on Texas and Fontana, instead of pack racing.

Less downforce, less drag and more power is the only way to keep these cars from repeating what happened in Las Vegas again.
I know everyone winces when people say more power, but it's better for them to get away from this stupid pack thing and have a bit more power that forces them to...shucks, brake for the turns and such than all sit together, foot to the floor in one big group for lap after lap.

A while ago I posted Gordon Kirby's column talking to a long-time Indycar (back when it was proper Indycar who has operated through both the CART and IRL eras) engineer, or at least part 1 of the discussion.

This is part 2 and he talks on the state of Indycar a behind the scenes that the fans just don't get an impression of on the "outside" as it were. It's a fascinating read, if lengthy.

I hope they add some details to separate the yellow and green better. Or a third color.

Are they using anything similar to the Handford device?

They don't want to take too much downforce off for Milwaukee and Iowa otherwise the won't be able to pass.

Agreed, it would look good if it didn't have those awful sidepods, by all means change the design of the car for safety reasons, but don't make it look different for the sake of it, which is seems Indycar have done.

ATM the car looks the bastardised son of the old car and the Delta wing (especially from above), maybe when they let people put aero kits on them they'll come back to looking like proper racing cars and not concept ones.

No amount of epic paint scheme is going to make the car look pretty for me.

Completely agree with this. There are some fantastic paint schemes this year, but that car is just revolting. Fix those sidepods and it'll immediately be better because the entire car will look better balanced. It's currently a spec car, so there is no need for the looks.

What happened to this rear end for the street courses (current front end looks better though)?

Image

I don't mind seeing the current rear ends for ovals (for safety). But surely you don't need that kinda safety measures for normal tracks.

Ah well it's just for 1 year, after that the manufactures can come with their own kits, and surely that will make them look much better (some).

Other than the god awful livery, the car is running so much negative rake that it looks like it's taking a shit.
