Apparently Maldonado used the new rear wing, Barrichello used the old one which is geared towards race pace

Perez has a concussion, nothing broken. To stay at the hospital for observation.

Horrible decision.

Just get rid of 107% because its not working at all.

SC galore tomorrow then because Liuzzi won't last 78 laps without finding the wall

I'm sure the FIA will look at it, but what can they do?

They can't move the barrier back, thats impossible and it would leave an open exit to the chicane
They can't bypass the chicane because that would be more dangerous and leave Tabac as a corner you approach at 190mph
Getting rid of any bumps is also going to be nigh on impossible on a street circuit.

Its a cause for concern because this has happened four times this weekend - Liuzzi, Petrov, Rosberg and Perez.

Impossible? Really?? It's not impossible.

They would have to remove the floral area dividing the carrigeways. Ohhh noo. They did they same at turn 1, what, 5 or so years ago?

The 107% rule is working fine, HRT has just found a way to stay barely inside it mostly. It worked fine in Melbourne.

I'm thankful they're on the grid TBH, lapping slow cars will add something interesting to what is sure to be a boring Vettel-fest tomorrow.

They'd have made it into the 107%, they not far behind Virgin and can beat them.

Strange decision to let HRT race. They were outside the 107% at all practice sessions, and did not run at Q1. And now they are allowed because their practice times were within 107% of the fastest time in Q1. Ofcourse no any top driver did a great lap in Q1

So, when they outside 107% in all dry practice sessions next race, and it started to rain in qualifying, they just decide to not run. They can say: Hey, we were faster in practice than the drivers in qualifying.

I think they can better delete the 107%-rule, because it don't work. And for the race: Especially Karthikeyan isn't looking in the mirrors. He have blocked a couple of drivers this year. I don't like it.

"It was with great relief the Sauber F1 Team received the news that Sergio Perez has no serious injuries after his heavy accident in the closing minutes of the final part of qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix," said Sauber in a statement.

"Shortly before 15:00 hrs he had crashed into the barrier after the fast tunnel section of the circuit.

"The 21-year-old Mexican was taken to the Hospital Princess Grace in Monaco from where the team received further information at 16:25 hrs: The doctors said Perez had suffered concussion and a sprained thigh, but no broken bones and, following a scan, they could find no further injuries.

"The reason for the accident will be investigated and the team will update the media as soon as it has any further information."

The part of the track where Rosberg ended up isn't actually a public road. I think it's a car park/cafe most of the year. Not to say that they can't remove the divider, but then that might be a danger for the other 361 days of the year when you have an unprotected car park next to a main road. :p I'm sure they could stick some semi-permanent wall in or something though.

I care about safety, but I'd also hate to see more walls removed from the circuit. Ste Devote and the Swimming Pool have already had part of their charm taken away.

This is how it is for the rest of the year:

Scary to think what could've happened to Perez if they hadn't removed those speed bumps before Quali...

He'd probably have hit with the rear of the car only. The jump over the bump was what saved Nico from hitting the barrier.

I wonder what happened to that super slowmotion camera they had at the harbour chicane on thursday and friday?? I think the camera would have provided amazing images of the incidents today...

Hamilton should be able to start on the soft tyres tomorrow seeing as his time was deleted.

That'd be cool. A couple SC could keep him close to the leaders with the chance of using the super-soft when the track is rubbered at it's max.

Q. (Heikki Kulta – Turun Sanomat) Sebastian, this was your first pole here in Monaco. Was this the pole that you wanted the most and it must have been quite a lap because you broke Kimi's record from 2005 by one tenth?

SV: Ah, it's good to hear. I think Kimi doesn't care, to be honest. Yeah, Jenson's just said he's driving trucks these days.

Is that true? In fact, he drove 4 laps in Q3. An outlap, that lap with Massa. And another outlap, and his 'fast' lap. I don't know why he don't have a time now, but in fact he drove 4 laps in Q3, and I think he must start on the supersoft tyre.
