I have a good feeling that JAFF can finally pull it off in the chase.

36 cars entered for Salem. That finally means a full field instead of the 29-30 car fields we've been seeing there the past two years or so. I'm ready for Saturday.

How come no one shows ARCA @ Salem on TV. That's a disgrace.

Simple logistics. It takes time, money, and resources (satellite trucks, cameras, commentators, etc.) to put together an ARCA race that isn't being held alongside a NASCAR weekend. Which wouldn't be a problem if some other network took care of the ARCA races SPEED isn't doing.

The only exception is if it happens to be the season finale, like Toledo or Rockingham were a few years back.

That is a logical argument but I don't know how it is possible to cover the K&N East and West series in their entirety even though they race on similar tracks like Salem. Does NASCAR actually pay SPEED big bucks to show those races? In that case, why doesn't ARCA also negotiate to have the Salems and DuQuoins broadcasted instead of the Michigans and Poconos?

I think one not-too-mentioned factor is the rise in competition with the East and West Series. Many years ago, the East (then North) and West series were a niche tour, and aside from Loudon and Phoenix, they run nothing but short tracks and the occasional road course. Few guys made it out of those ranks and into moderate or major success: Kevin Harvick and Brendan Gaughan in the West, Martin Truex Jr and Ricky Craven in the North to name a few. If you wanted to get noticed by NASCAR teams, you had to run on the big tracks, and ARCA was the place for them to do that.

Thing is, a few years ago, NASCAR's North Series became the East Series, and at that point, it stopped being a touring series and became a developmental series. Now there's been a big emphasis on Cup teams joining in, like Joe Gibbs and Michael Waltrip. And if it isn't a Cup team dominating, it's their financially-backed diversity team Revolution Racing doing the winning. The influx of drivers who came out of those ranks in the past few years are impressive: Joey Logano, Trevor Bayne, Austin Dillon, Ricky Carmichael, Brian Ickler, Ryan Truex, Matt DiBenedetto, and guys like Max Gresham and Brett Moffitt on their way in a year or two. And while they don't run on too many big tracks (yet), the level of competition seems to balance it out.

To put it simply, the K&N East Series is essentially becoming NASCAR's version of ARCA, and the real ARCA is being left behind.

Good points, makes sense. The K&N Series has definitely gotten a lot more prominent for having up and coming guys going straight to trucks or NW than it did back in the BNS/WW/SW days. Can't blame NASCAR for wanting to control everything from the ground up I guess, even though I always thought they had a good enough relationship with ARCA to not want to do anything to push them out of the picture in any way.

The East series doesn't even run in CT anymore. A crime that they dropped Stafford, Thompson and especially Lime Rock.

Complete and total travesty that Lime Rock isn't on the schedule anymore. I don't care if the place doesn't have any grandstands. It deserves a race, damnit.

I LOVE that Lime Rock has no grandstands. You have freedom to watch where ever you want and free admission to the paddock. Yeah the modifieds run there but they need the east series back. Trucks would be awesomeness imo.

I feel this could be a good chase (waits for NASCAR to prove me wrong)

Atleast Jr fans know he'll be 12th in the final standings.

I've said it once and I'll say it again - NASCAR would've been smart to buy the assets of USAR Pro Cup a few seasons ago when they had money issues, and were close to the same specs as the K&N cars. Go to a West-Northeast-Midwest-Southeast structure for the K&N races, with 1-2 Cup companion events each and you'd have a feeder series for life (even moreso if they played with the minimum age requirements as well)

As long as Steve LeTarte is on top of the war wagon calling the shots, even a top-5 in points post-Homestead would surprise me.
