So the GT1 is at the Slovakiaring this weekend. I'm going tomorrow 8)
The GT1 has now just 13 cars, so that's a shame... but the main event is the FIA Central European Zone Trophy (so-called Division 4) with lots of cars, and other feeder series (9 series to be precise)
The highlight of the weekend is an 2 hours endurance race in the evening on saturday. That will be my first live almost-night race I'm attending. I'm really looking forward to this event.

PS: Wish me luck that I don't get run over by a car on my way back in the night, for I'll have to walk about 6 km by the road to get to the train station...

Apparently Albert von Thurn und Taxis had a big crash in GT1 qualifying.

I just got back from Slovakiaring. What a great day.
I was sitting in front of that tire chicane. It turned out to be a pretty good spot. I have never seen such huge crashes live. Managed to make it to the track till qualy, so I have seen the crash from Albert von Thurn und Taxis. That was quite a hit 8O They had to use the ADAC GT Masters cars for the race.

Then, at the D4 <2000cm3 race a car flipped. At the D4 >2000cm3 race, a slovak NHL player Lubomir Visnovsky destroyed his own ferrari...

To complete the crash list, a clio didn't make it into the chicane and destroyed itself.

I'll keep an eye on youtube in the next few days, I hope some of those crashes will pop up

The front was totally ripped off, is the driver ok? Thanks for that picture. Hope to see some footage of the crashes you told.

Yes, he's ok. He ran wide at the exit of the high-speed turn 2, like Albert von Thurn und Taxis, but crashed head-on on the other side of the track, whithout the tire wall. There were car parts everywhere...

And apparently, the driver who flipped in the D4 <2000cm3 race was Marian Rajnoha, a 69-year old driver, who races for 50 years, and never had a crash. He was airlifted to the hospital, but should be ok.

Thanks for the informations spekktrum!

PS: I think there's no thread for SuperGT, so I'll say it here. Kodai Tsukakoshi just deostroyed his car at 130R, his tyre blew at the exit of the corner, he went into the tyre barrier in a huge hit, thankfully he seems to be ok, he was taken to the hospital, but it seems he is ok.

That was a very hard impact. Luckily the two other cars weren't directly hit by the flying wheel :8:

Managed to catch the end of the Pokka 1000 Race due to favourable time differnces this time. I won't spoil the results for whom will somehow watch it delayed. Video of Tsukakoshi's crash?

EDIT1: ok video up.

EDIT2: is the over excited guy with the GT300 winners crew the legendary commentator from the 90s?

That chicane itself is quite awesome, if you sit on the grandstand in front of it. Cars passing at high speed, just inches from the tire wall 8) However it ruins the natural flow of the track...

Yeah, it was needed though because of all the terrible airbournes and flips on that chicane in the races beforehand...

Oh wait no, that didn't happen....
