If BKez continues his hot streak he may make it inside the top 10 in points on merit before the chase starts (currently 21 points out). If so, assuming there are no more wins outside the top 10 drivers, that likely puts the first wild card in Denny Hamlin's hands, and the 2nd goes to either Paul Menard, David Ragan or Marcos Ambrose who are separated by 4 points.

So Marcos has a legitimate shot at making the chase! 8)

Just saw the highlights on ESPN. What was with Keselowski speeding in the pits and passing Kenseth and Gordo? No penalty? :?

There were very few timing loops on pit road. Kenseth and Keselowski managed to exploit it.

Guys have been doing that for years, it just hasn't looked as extreme.

Yeah, credit to them for doing their homework to exploit that, but NASCAR needs to re-work the timing loops there.

Just watched Bristol today. Dullfest or what!

Can we have old style Bristol back please?

Didn't Junior once state that the new Bristol surface isn't what's causing the racing to suck? I'm pretty sure he blamed it entirely on the CoT, stating that if the old car were brought to the new Bristol, it would put on a hell of a show.

Well, the old car raced on the new Bristol in the NNS until last year and it wasn't really much different than the COT races.

TBH, if it were a new track just created, it would be a big hit as the actual racing is great. But at Bristol, we always expected Martinsville style bumping and banging over one groove on a 36 degree banked track. And that is almost gone now. Boo-hoo, right?

I don't think the issue is wanting to see bumping and banging, but rather we just want to see some kind of different racing. Every single race track is starting to turn into the exact same type of track and race.

Didn't they widen the track when they re-done it? Pretty sure someone said that was partly to fault too, making the track even a couple foot wider took made the margin for error so much bigger and mistakes not punished as much as before, in other words it made it a lot easier to drive overall.

Yes they did. I also believe that smoothed out the transitions from banking to straightaway. Not only did they widen it, but they lowered the banking at the bottom to 22 degrees increasing to 27 degrees at the top. It used to be ~27degrees all over I think, and yes I know it was advertised as 36, but that was clearly nonsense. Basically, they made the old Bristol a bigger track, along the outer edge of the old track, and decreased the banking at the bottom so the old groove is no longer the only groove.

Sure they can race side by side for lap after lap, but that's not what Bristol is about, kids. It didn't used to be that easy to drive. Bring back old Bristol, give Darlington its 2nd race back, and repave Dover.

That's pretty much it. Where's the fun of every single track having the exact same challenges? It's partially why I like Darlington, Pocono, and the roadies so much. They provide different challenges than most other tracks.
