I can't understand how some people say it was not Dario's fault.

Well, it can still be racing and be somebodies fault. I do think it was Darios fault (maybe even more than the 75/25 I estimated before, but either way, it's his fault), but had Power had any sort of thought process going on then he'd have still been ahead. Leave just the tiniest bit more room and he'd have the position, and still be in the race. However just because Power could avoid it, doesn't remove blame from Dario.

If Toronto had been a DTM race most of the field would have been banned for contact.

Back in the end of the "glory days" of CART, in 2001 there were 11 cautions at Toronto, with 10 retirements due to crashes.

And both today and then were IMHO at least better than the last Champ Car Toronto race (in 2007). In that event, more cars crashed out (9) than finished (8).

It happens. *shrug*

Weren't at least three of them caused by Takagi? I don't quite have the time right now to watch that race, but I seem to recall Paul Page and Parker Johnstone getting really annoyed by Tora Takagi's tactics out there that day.

Back in the Cart days the cars were "a bit" faster. Luckily the boxes they run now are slow enough for this sort of racing to be safe on some level.

...and no I am not starting the Cart IRL discussion here!! Just making a point, it is ok to have more crashes if your field is that much faster.

IndyCar has the full race on YouTube (hell, it's in my favorites).

"You really gotta give him room, you can't expect to use another car as your girlfriend and move up a position like that."

Why the fick do you guys complain? This was one of the most entertaining races I have seen and I rather watch some pricks crashing and messing around in the streets alongside some real good drivers (you cant deny there are some) than watching the best ones (who ever they may be - the cart are not. They were not any better) doing a parade!

Yep, three of them were caused by Takagi. Someone made a nice clip with just Takagi's incidents and the Page and Johnstone commentary.

The bottom line is Dario has been getting away with way too many close calls lately (no penalty for running over a tire in Milwaukee was an obvious let off) and that fuels the current state of things. No wonder even Power is frustrated because nothing seems to be going wrong for Dario (except for the Texas lottery where his moaning was utter hogwash, but now seems to be foregotten). If I were Helio or Briscoe I'd divebomb Dario somewhere in Edmonton and just watch how much Ganassi would be pissed off. The luck will finally run out for Dario and I hope it happens sooner then later. He's a great driver and doesn't need any lucky breaks to win another championship. Currently, his lucky avoidance of all the trouble helps him in the standings more then anything else.

Well it's not only that he knocked over the tyre but he sent the crew member flying too.

But this is the same Will Power who was moaning on the radio to get Helio disqualified at Edmonton to get gifted a free win? The same Will Power who took the line Helio did during the race? Dario has been incredibly lucky this season, but it's not like IndyCar has ever been even remotely consistent, and Power has been on the receiving end of some questionable luck before too. IndyCars corruption and inability to enforce the rules (no matter how bullshit they are) is becoming quite a big issue.

I bow to your memory :p But either way, my points still relevant. There's far too much dodgy crap all round, nevermind just with the leaders. Was every driver who caused an accident on Sunday penalised equally? If not then why are we not highlighting that too? IndyCar seems determined to shoot itself in the foot whilst its on the way up.

Well I guess everyone was treated equally on the weekend as no-one was given penalties.

Can't complain too much tho.. it could be the total opposite like F1 in recent years where the slightest knock or racing incident is investigated every fucking time.

During a practice session at Valencia when the BBC had someone from Sauber in the commentary box it was pointed out that it was the drivers who asked the stewards to investigate everything & that its something the drivers continue to ask for in each driver briefing.
