In the brazillian stock car a huge fire crash happened 5 min ago. The gas tank wich is put on the back of the car like the NASCAR exploded while racing for no apparent reason, engulfing the cockpit in flames. The fire was so intense that the driver oppened the door and jumped after 20 seconds of driving inside that inferno.

He was alright but those are one of the most spetacular scenes I've ever seen. :8:

I'll post pics and videos when I find any.

Edit: Here it is, he's allright.

Sounds frightening. It really exploded for no reason?

Don't have huge crashes in every race anyway?

No, huge crashes don't happen so often. And this one wasn't a crash really. Looks like it all started with a flat or probably blown left rear tire.

The only "crash" that comes to my head (in all motorsport footage, not stock or Brazillian series) is this one from the Brazillian F-Truck

But here he still could see where he was going. This time the driver was really desperate to jump off the car, and it seems that this fall was what hurt him the most (his shoulder).

Very descriptive first name he has.. or was that just his state of mind?

I remember this accident with Macarrão in F-Truck some years ago, watched it live. If it wasn't tragic, it was comic....I remember I couldn't stop laughing when I saw Macarrão jumping out of the cockpit with his hair on fire.

Now regarding this accident in Stock Car...there's something wrong with this series anyway, in this year already one death (Sondermann at Interlagos), lots of polemics involving rules, drivers claiming the organization protects some drivers and teams rather than others......when will they realize Stock Car Brasil needs reform imediatelly, in security, in rules, schedule and etc.

That's his "Artistic name" or nickname.

You should see the original version of that Truck fire, the crowd was cheering all the way down the straight "Uh, Macarrão. Uh, Macarrão" as he was passing on fire. He's by far the most charismatic / iconic person in FTruck, he even raced down on my regional track with his (and mine) soccer team flag above his car. Regardless of the aerodinamic drag this would provoke.

Another video os this crash - the live version, the crown wasn't cheering his name, you can hear it on the 2:10 replay.

Edit: Better, much better at 6:04, that's one of the most insane / amazing moments I have in my memory.

And this is considered one of the Brazil's most memorable moments in Truck racing, Macarrão x Lanzoni battle is in the History of the series. Macarrão drifting with that monster in the corners is amazing! I wonder why he's not competing in Truck racing today.....lots of legends are not in the series anymore....

If it was a puncture, it didn't "explode for no apparent reason."

Used to see fires like this where the car catches fire for seemingly no reason during the old IMSA GTP days.

As there's no Stock Car Brasil Thread in TBK Light Forum (by the way I wonder why), I'll post this news here.

Well, this is the car Jacques Villeneuve will drive in Interlagos this weekend, in the one-million dollar race event of Stock Car Brasil.

It's also going to be the first time the french-canadian will be driving at Interlagos with the new provisional layout (chicane at the Café turn).

He already went to the track this Thursday on the first Free Practices.
