Poor JR. Still, glad Dan won it rather than something horrible happening like Danica or Marco winning while everyone else ran dry.

I still can't believe what happened. This dwarfs the finishes of 1992 and 2006.

To be fair, I can see why he made the decision he made. Kimball was SOOO SLOW in that corner. And if he wasn't out of fuel, there's really no excuse for it. Wheldon actually beat Kimball to the line, so that shows just how damn ridiculous it was. Hildebrand would probably have passed Kimball off T4 but he would have had almost no chance at regaining too much speed with the lack of torque in these engines. Plus there was the worry of fuel so he probably had momentum on his mind and nothing else.

Such a shame. All kinds of shit just lined up and put him in a really awkward position at the worst possible moment.

Yeah, this. Kimball was totally slow and should have yielded to the outside.

But at the same time, if Kimball had gone where Hildebrand ended up going, it would've been the same result of a car in the wall.

Agreed. The high line had no grip whatsoever. Once you're up there, you're in the wall.

Charlie Kimball, what a hero. He proved that even people affected by diabetes can ruin another person's day. Truly inspirational.

I don't see how Kimball did anything wrong. The guy was running as low as he could. There was at least one lane for JR to go through. He simply went too high.

Come on guys, as sorry as I feel for JR, he just plain fucked up. No way around that.

Hildebrand should have rolled off in the North Chute and only pass Kimball on the S/F straight. He had enough in hand over Wheldon to still win it.

Kimball did nothing wrong except running too hard when he had to save fuel earlier.

From the seats I couldn't tell, but didn't the track go yellow after he hit the wall? if that would've happened, wouldn't JR have won it because of the caution and having to maintain position?

Either way, this was fantastic as a storyline and we were gutted for Baguette when he pitted. JR Hildebrand will have his chance again.

The yellow flag began waving pretty much right as Wheldon crossed the line.

But the yellow lights were on before he passed. I don´t know if passing a wrecked car plays a roleto this in any way?

And staying in the racing line when he was well of the pace.

Man, I'm such a horrible person for laughing at this, but if you know someone with diabetes, you know there's a small truth in this.

(no offense to anyone with this terrible condition)

Exactly what I think - as a captain hindsight. Who knew that the grip wasn't there anymore? JR probably slowed down, but obviously not enough.

A dozen times today Cars had to be lapped and nothing happened.

Hildebrand just fucked it up.And when you watched his Reaction closely he knew he fucked it up on his own

Actually, I think in IndyCar, they encourage slower traffic to stay on the inside on the ovals, while the leaders pass them on the outside.

There was no grip on that outside line all day long. Tagliani, Hinchcliffe and Sato all got caught out in a similar fashion.

Wheldon was way ahead when the caution came out. But even if it would have been under caution with Wheldon still seconds he could have legally passed Hildebrand as driving by a damaged car is not a pass

This Hot Wheels thing made to look like an episode of 24 sucks. Did they already do the jump at Indy?
