By the way, Richard Göransson is back from his bad back injury, and won in the second heat of the STCC weekend in Göteborg. In pouring rain. Meanwhile, Rydell won heat 1, and Thompson is also getting stronger by finishing 3rd in heat 1. Turkington was a nobody for the whole weekend and could only finish 10th in heat 2.

TTA have backed themselves into a corner they cannot now get out of. I feel the Solution F plan is the wrong direction for these teams to be heading in.

I'm starting to feel like this series needs some proper TV coverage (especially in the UK)... it sounds like a good series to me.

In case you haven't heard, there is an IRL/CART kind of split happening for next year, the new series will be run by the Touring car Teams Association, TTA.

Jyllandsringen from Saturday:

Race 1: Rustad won comfortably, ahead of Colin Turkington. Season best result for Turk. Meanwhile, Rydell DNF'd and Ekblom came 3rd, so Ekblom extended his championship lead.

Race 2: Giovanardi started from pole due to his 8th place in race 1. At the stat, "Flash", Watt, Elgaard, Rustad, Turkington and Ekblom piled up. Only Ekblom survived and could claim a points position. But Giovanardi became the first international star to win a race in STCC this year, in only his 2nd race! Tarquini got involved in first corner incidents in all of the four races he did and could only take a 9th place as best result.

Rickard Rydell is the 2011 STCC champion.

Pretty much. They claim Rydell passed Björk when the SC was out. From where I sat, I could see neither a safety car or a yellow flag in the area.

If anyone wants to make a nice season review of this championship, I'd be interested, sounds great on the outside

I love the Camaro's. Did you catch the big pile up in race 1? I was on the inside of the first turn then, so I just caught the beginning of it (but my camera didn't).

Great video. It's not only the end of an era for Volvo, but for STCC as well.

I'm going to reserve judgment until the first race of the new TTA series before I decide whether or not the TTA is shitty.
