2012 Calendar: http://britishf3international.com/calendar.php

2012 Lineup: http://britishf3international.com/drivers.php

1st race was at Monza today... And guess what ? According to the report that was a action packed race with a flip from Kotaro Sakurai.

The season started with a smash for Pipo Derani – the Brazilian clouted the barrier off the start line, bringing out the first safety car; however could not compare to accident that claimed the Rookie Class drivers, Bart Hylkema (T-Sport) and Kotaru Sakurai (Hitech).
Approaching the Variante della Roggia, the pair collided hard, leaving Sakurai sliding down the escape road on his roll hoop bar. Hylkema returned to the pits with a sliced rear tyre and damaged rear wing, but rejoined with half the race run.

The final safety car period was instigated by Pietro Fantin (Hitech) and Scott Pye (Double R). The duo removed eachother approaching the Variante del Rettifilo on the 9th tour, ensuring the third safety car emerged.

Heh, as I predicted in the Dega MSN chat...

Though it was the least risky prediction of my life tbh!

I guess we still have to wait a week for coverage, or do they have a youtube still?

The pre-race drama is a load of bullshit though, a few drivers are moaning on Twitter the organisers brought forward the start of the race by 5 mins and didn't tell anyone in the paddock so that's why so many of them were caught out....

Well done to the director of that race, the race reports make it sound like a crash filled weekend, yet did any of them get on camera?

Bah, what a crock....

The flip was a bit Bruno Senna at Snetterton, wheel to wheel contact, nose up onto back flip, badly caught from an on-board from a car way behind, Deja Vu or what!

Maybe Motors TV's extended showing will have more analysis of Race 1, but I doubt it...

Motors have had a problem with the tape and are showing Monza tonight.

It pisses me off that even the extended Motors showing never includes one of the races in anything other than that brief highlights reel. You'd think with 48 minutes at their disposal they'd spread it equally between the three races. And they always seem to show the reverse grid race in extended form, even though that's the most meaningless of the 3.

I guess they didn't have any cameras around for the first race? Which sucks as it sounded action packed.
Oh well. I might head over to Snetterton to watch them on the new layout in a couple of weeks.

Nice avatar by the way, tick-tock 8)

There was a big roll at Snetterton apparently, but they managed to do it on the Saturday, so expect no footage. :(

Not sure if I really like the new section. I'm used to seeing short laps and seeing the cars come around more often. Some of the support series were doing laptimes well over 2 minutes and it felt like an age waiting for them to come back into view. The specator area at Agostini is pretty good though. It's one of the few places where you can see a lot of track.

Oh that's just typical isn't it? I suppose there's always a faraway onboard.

Can't actually see it mentioned in any of the race reports, but the commentators mentioned it. Unless it was qualifying.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.
