I don't know about that, it's not really a direct line anymore. The real feeder series are short track series like the K&N Pro Series and (prior to Hooter's back out) USAR Pro Cup. Talented drivers that make it to Cup will make a name for themselves in a short track series and then prove themselves in a few ARCA/Truck/Nationwide starts. Heck, Denny Hamlin went straight from driving Late Models at local tracks to a truck ride with Gibbs. The real difference now is that Cup owners don't develop talent, they expect it to already be there when the hire a driver. If that driver doesn't deliver immediately they move on to the next one.

That's the whole point though. Nobody goes straight from latemodels or any other series to Cup, they all need a stepping stone in nationwide or trucks. Trucks is less spoiled than nationwide but it's still not as distinct from Cup as it used to be. The nature of the game today is that in the feeder series it's the cup guys getting the most sponsorship dollars, media attention and wins, and that can only go on for so long before non-Cup guys turn their attention elsewhere.

Its like that way for mainly one reason guys...money....you used to be able as a single car team, to run the trucks or nationwide, be competitive and make money....cant do that now. Last place pays the same now as it did 6-8 years ago. You cant race, be competitive, and make a living at it anymore like you used to. One of my good buddies, he's actually my boss now, used to own a nationwide team for a few years earlier this decade....theres no money to be made anymore by the single car teams. The only way to do it, is start and park. You cant run up front anymore and make money unless you got a sponsor paying your bills.

Yeaa, new drivers just don't get a chance any more. When they do they're under so much pressure they make mistakes, then get dropped and labelled failures.

Random idea I had with the buschwhackers. NASCAR should limit them to no more than maybe 10 buschwhackers, but any drivers outside the top 35 running in Cup would be exempt from that. They have to start at the back of the field, no matter what. So what you have is the Cup guys storming through the field to get to the front, and all the fans get excited because their favorite Cup drivers are passing lots and lots of cars. The only problem is that it probably wouldn't work at tracks under 1 mile because then they would get lapped.

It's an enormously, how do I put it, pre-planned idea, but it seems to be a brilliant one. But NASCAR will only put stupid pre-planned ideas in.

I like this. I'd like it better if they just banned cup drivers from feeder series outright or limited entries, but this could work.

I bet we would see a dramatic decrease in buschwacking if that get implemented.

Busch would still be able to get to the front and probably win. It would just add to "the legend of Kyle Busch" and they would probably kiss his ass even more. I'd rather just get rid of them altogether.

Instead of something like that, how bad would it be if they just withheld prize money from teams that run Cup drivers?

Simplest way yet they'll never do it.

NASCAR is too stupid to do the obvious reason, so we have to go a bit wacky.

I'm personally hoping it's something other than "Of course that's a good idea, that's why NASCAR never does it!". Might be some reason involving legal bullshit or something that's probably too complicated to explain here.

Or they could go the F1 route and say if you've raced in another series in the previous 24 hours you can't start another race. I think that rules still in force, it stopped Mario Andretti from starting a race.

Also with that Bushwhacking thing, no Cup drivers can do standalone races, eg NNS at Nashville

That's not a bad idea.

They should just limit drivers to, say, 40 races per year across the top 3 series. Seems like a simple enough solution to me.
