NASCAR and V8's are reasonably similar as far as the basics go, the only real differences are that we only run on road courses and there is more technology and aerodynamic aid. And they're right hand drive.

They should go back in time and take inspiration from Dugal McDougall's livery from a decade ago. Remember, simple is best (afterall, the most remembered Australian touring car of all time is the dayglo Marlboro VK from late 1984, a VERY simple design)

I agree, I've liked each new scheme more than the last. Wouldn't call any of them gorgeous though.

Whats more of a shame is Murph isnt racing with the number 51. Even though the 1st paint job looked shit, should have stuck with it all year.

If V8 supercars what to be a truly global sport which they seem to be chasing after since getting the FIA approval. A race in the US is a no brainer. Next will be somewhere in Europe.

Howsit any different to having the numbers on the doors/guard?

No unique fonts or colours. The styling of a number in racing can be as important as the paintscheme it's on, and having a standard arial fleuro number for every car really robs the sport of emblems for fans.

Look at the numbers in NASCAR. Horrible fonts almost all. They take up too much space. BTCC 90's style is best. V8SC today is ok.

Until about 2003ish the V8's had a standard font and number styling for all the cars.

prior to 2008, there had never been a standard font or number styling in the championship history (most teams just traditionally stuck with a number inside a box by personal choice)

Bathurst had only enforced 'black numbers on a white background' in 1987 and 1988 due to FISA telling them they had to.

The move to yellow numbers in the rear window in 2008 was the first time that organisers had enforced a number styling and position in the history of the series.

You positive? I know PEter Brock caused a bit of a problem in I think it was 2003, when he ran the outline for both of his car numbers as an 05.


After that it was fair game for anyone, and you got cool shit like Ambrose's 1.
