Remember in 1990, when Alesi made his decision, it was Ferrari challenging for the title. It's not the ridiculous decision of heart ruling head that it sometimes made out to be.

Yeah and Williams were the clear 3rd quickest and some way off both McLaren and Ferrari. Williams were a somewhat unknown quantity for 1991 and had an unproven new on the books Adrian Newey designing the new car. At the time the decision was made, it was a sensible one for Alesi.

I'd be mad too if I was Brian and gifted him an Indy 500 years ago only to get this thrown back at me.

Kyle Larson, the next Parnelli Jones?

This was mentioned on another forum but its worth repeating. If I'm Larry or AJ Foyt why don't I finally release the dead weight that's getting me nowhere with Meira (aside from my own weight problems), and start going after this kid? Would be cool to see, and may get the 14 running up front again.

...but I still hate that Tracy guy more...he got a fine back in July for $50,000 after saying the same thing after Toronto.

Maybe if Brian wasn't a moron then the drivers would stop abusing him. Perhaps they need to look at why the drivers are being abusive, rather than punishing them for it. Just saying...

The car looks much better in motion.

Jesus Christ I hate those sidepod pieces in front of the rear tires so fucking much. The car would be at least tolerable without those. But with them it just looks fucking stupid. :yuk:

Hopefully the first thing to go when rival bodykits are introduced.

Also notice how it's becoming less and less 'just a chassis'? This was meant to be just a chassis which Dallara supplied, and then we'd have multiple kits. We've went from that to a chassis, with Dallara making the only kits. Now we've got the same kit on every track except the wings? What the hell IndyCar? This is now a spec car again, and it's fucking revolting!

Those rear wheel protectors are going to act like puncture devices too, so that's going to be hilarious.

Spec would be for only one year. That huge sidepod functions to redirect the air to reduce rear tyre aero turbulance. Cynically I think ppl are just ridiculously picky about nothing, critically I don't see any problems with that chassis.

If Indycar ever manages to pull its head out of its ass and give the fans a product they can be passionate about, then it could once again rival NASCAR for popularity.

Some of the things that need to happen in order for this to occur are hard sells these days. For instance, part of CART's attraction back in the day was that it was a high tech series. Indycar has become a spec series to keep the costs down, and probably the manufacturers don't mind since the economy is so crappy. Still, I doubt that being a spec series helps ticket sales.

At other times, though, Indycar shoots itself in the foot in other ways. Their officiating has looked incredibly moronic lately, for instance. People don't flock to sports that look like they are run by amateurish buffoons.

Correct on all counts. What a joke.

The car looks good on motion looking it from the frint, so the views from T1 at Indy will be OK. I still hate the sidepods and the bumper at the rear.

What the fuck is that rear wing?

Anyways...Honda and Chevrolet have reportedly started to get plans going on their bodykits for 2013. Lotus as usualy, nobody knows anything...cept Jean Alesi.
