That will be very interesting to watch.

Never heard of him..

Because he runs in similarly quick cars very well and he is the only driver in the race that knows the Motegi road course.

It is regretful that we don't get enough Japanese racing here, both Formula Nippon and Super GT are wonderful series, and the drivers there are really, really good. Two of this years Le Mans winners are regulars in Super GT, and we all know how epic that race was.

LOL, anyone plan on going to Japan for this race? If you promise to eat all the Fukushima rice, beef, and leafy veggies you can stuff yourself with, I'll pay for half your round trip plane ticket. Oh, you have to be willing to drink plenty of Fukushima water and also swim daily in the ocean.

Moto GP is also complaining about going and I don't blame them. I would go, avoid the food/water, and tell my wife and kids to stay back home. Some of the levels of cesium 134/137 near the Motegi track are astounding. That stuff causes cancer and heart disease over the long term.... I'm no nuclear physicist, but the nuclear physicists I've seen on TV have advocated leaving northern Japan entirely.

I hate Danica as much as the next person, but that doesn't mean she's wrong.....

Joao Paulo is a very good racer, he won the german Formula 3 championship with 13 wins in 16 races in 2003. 2005 japanese Formula 3 champion, and 2010 Formula Nippon champion.

I wish him a good race, hope for top ten result.

Hideki Mutoh drove also the Motegi road course in August.

Dan Wheldon to race for $5 million bonus in Las Vegas season finale

Quote:
Indianapolis 500 winner Dan Wheldon will return to the the Izod IndyCar Series for the 2011 season finale at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in October. That means IndyCar's $5 million Challenge is on, though not exactly in the form in which it was originally conceived.

IndyCar CEO Randy Bernard wanted to bring a driver from outside of the series to race in the Izod World Championships, Oct. 14-16 at Las Vegas, but no one took him up on it. So, he turned to the biggest name he could find. Two-time Indy winner Wheldon, who hasn't competed in IndyCar since winning the most recent 500 in May, will go for the bonus. He is expected to drive for Bryan Herta Autosport, with whom he won at Indianapolis Motor Speedway this year. GoDaddy.com is listed as a partner in the event.

IndyCar has scheduled a news conference for 2 p.m. Eastern on Sept. 13 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway to announce the details.

I'd say the deal is even bigger.
First of all he has way bigger chances to win than the other three guys would have had and second: That's the first step to a triple crown: a double crown.

He is not it since he just wanted to drive for Penske or Ganassi, but those didn't want to give him a ride.

To be fair, with Danica leaving for the greener pastures of NASCAR, there wasn't really any marketable Americans besides Marco Andretti.

Although most of the decline falls on Tony George and Brian Barnhart.

this was kanaan's reply to danica's remarks about japan being a safety issue lol

"Nobody would jeopardize the series or put anybody in harm's way," Kanaan said. "It's very ignorant of people to talk that way. We're exposed to so much radiation just from everyday life. It's not a problem there. It's very disrespectful to the Japanese people to talk that way. If it was bad for them, it would be bad for us. They wouldn't ask us to come and race if things weren't safe. … If you're concerned about it, then just say, 'Fine my ass,' and don't go."

Some people are worried about Japan. My thoughts are as follows: if I was still in Indy Lights, and an IndyCar driver said they didn't want to go, I'd be the first kid to put my hand up and say I'll take their place. I'm looking forward to Motegi.

James Jakes:

"Wish everyone would stop going on about the radiation shit, has anyone even died in Japan because they have been exposed to (sic) much?"

The answer, of course, is no.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Let's wait a couple of years for that
