The ARCA Truck Series has its season finale this weekend at the Lake County Speedway near Cleveland,OH. If you remember correctly the last race at Lake County saw every competitor's truck with major damage, and I think they only started 13 then. There are nearly 20 trucks on the entry list for this weekend. Could be interesting!

The points battle is very close as well, with three trucks separated by just 15 points.

I will be there of course, as photographer.

Danny Jackson won the title over Chad Poorman by 10 points. Poorman had the points lead going into Lake County but Jackson won the pole and the race and was able to make up ground. The nice championship trophy you see ended up getting broken after all the photos were taken. The chassis builder had it on the back of the truck after the victory lane ceremonies, I think the plan was to push the truck back to the hauler, but the driver fired it up on the track and took off. When he did that, the trophy flew off the back with the chassis guy hanging on to it and both hit the ground. The guy wasn't hurt, but the trophy was destroyed. Didn't get any photos as it happened, but got one of them holding it after the fact:

Update on the ARCA Truck Series championship, the #5 and #3 failed post race tech and were fined 100 points each. This means the #54 of Levi Mansfield is the 2013 ARCA Truck Series champ.

Well, that's crazy. Does he get the smashed-up championship trophy? :p

Maybe. The ($450)trophy that was broken was was just used for pictures, they get a different trophy at the banquet.

I probably have to go to Cincinnati tomorrow to re-take pictures. I don't mind, but I was looking forward to seeing the Halloween 200 at Salem.

There is a rumor that some fans are going to try and take some donations to get Dave Darland an Arca ride for Daytona. I am already trying to figure out a way for me to take off after second shift Friday night and somehow get to Daytona by the time the Arca race starts if this miracle does happen. It is a 15 hour drive from where I live and I would get off at midnight Friday night. It is doable long as I don't get fucked by traffic. Then I'd have to be back for Monday night shift. Man that would be a hell of a road trip just for an Arca race and I might as well take in the Bud/Busch/Coors shoot out.

I bet a plane ticket would cost to much but it'd be worth it just to be there.

Edit: Orbitz says I can do it for $383 round trip. That's fucking doable.

A must-watch piece from "NASCAR Race Hub" on Tim Steele, and the near-fatal wreck that changed his life on and off the track.

Yes indeed. In an age of over-dramatic focus pieces, this one is fantastically executed and genuine.

Amazing piece. I remember hearing about his testing accident, such a big waste of talent. In a good car, Tim was a BEAST.

Surprised that Iowa isn't on the schedule. Road America is also off the schedule. It looks like Lucas Oil Speedway is the only track on the schedule that wasn't on the 2013 schedule.

Presumably something to do with ISC buying the track.

I read a couple of very interesting things on Twitter today:

-Frank Kimmel is leaving Thorsport Racing and will be driving for a different team next year.

-Ken Schrader Racing will be fielding a full-time ARCA entry next year with Ken Schrader running 10 events and Matt Tifft the other 10.

Wonder why Kimmel would leave ThorSport after just winning a championship for them...
