For U.S viewers, it's been confirmed that the Monaco GP will broadcast LIVE on NBC.

If my facts are correct, this would be the first time a non-North American GP has been aired live on broadcast television in the United States.

I'm starting to get annoyed with all those replays from the start while missing live track action when it is still important (say lap 4).

Did anyone who watched the BBC highlights think that they really were piss poor? It's Monaco and they made it about as glamorous as a wet night in Bradford.

Silverstone 1978 was live on CBS.

Monaco GP on NBC is most-watched F1 race in U.S. since 2007

NBC’s live broadcast of the Monaco Grand Prix this past Sunday morning was watched by nearly 1.5 million viewers, making it the most-watched Formula One™ race on U.S. television in six years, and up 241% vs. last year’s race, which aired on SPEED, according to Fast National data provided today by the The Nielsen Company.

The Monaco Grand Prix (7:59-10:30 a.m. ET/4:59-7:30 a.m. PT), which was broadcast live on U.S. network television for the first time, was watched by 1.456 million viewers and scored a 1.0 household rating. It is the most-watched F1 race on U.S. television in six years, since FOX broadcast the Canadian Grand Prix in the afternoon in 2007 (6/10/07, 1.494 million).

Viewership for the race was up 241% vs. last year’s Monaco telecast on SPEED (427,000 viewers), and was up 40% vs. FOX’s four-race F1 average last year (1.038 million), all of which were broadcast in the afternoon.

NBC tallied triple-digit increases vs. SPEED’s telecast last year among two key demographics, Adults 18-49 (461,000 vs. 127,000, up 263%) and Adults P25-54 (674,000 vs. 160,000, up 321%).

It is probably more likely to be some form of sensor, trying to detect how much or if Chilton has any talent.

It's actually a chip and pin machine linked to the starter, IE he has to swipe daddy's credit card to start the car

That camera (Or sensor) was only there for his out-lap, When he came back out it had been removed & no shot from it showed up on any of Sky's OnBoard feeds, Only shot we got was the T-cam.

Its likely either a camera or a sensor put there by Marussia to get some data on something.

Maybe it's the parking brake Marussia didn't think they'd need this weekend.

Lol whoops.

So it was a chip and pin machine then, they just forgot to take it off for the outlap (maybe they were having trouble obtaining authorisation so left it on incase the transaction was declined for remote shutdown).

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

I know, but it's been so many years watching live every single race on TV, this year I already had to go for streaming on Canadian GP and I still might have to go for it during US GP

by the way, the cable tv that has the rights always comes up with an event during the race and only show on other time

maybe a 'weird' thought, but I wanted to ask anyway:

is there an option for me, as a Belgian, to sign up to sky sports online and have access to F1 and NASCAR online coverage, plug it into my tv and enjoy it from my TV?

in an interview with David Coulthard

Quote:
You’re working for the BBC as a commentator now. Are there any similarities between your current position and being part of a Formula 1 team?

- There are no similarities. Television is a public broadcasting corporation in the case of the BBC. It’s unionised and people won’t do certain things because it’s five o’clock. With motor racing, if you have a problem at midnight the mechanics will strip the car, rebuild it and finish at four. Then they’ll come back at six. It’s a different mentality.

no wonder they lost the coverage. Bunch of lazy pricks, lol.
