Edwards/DC were great this morning (was watching on TSN). As much as I like Martin, I found I really didn't miss him at all.

It's gonna be some job to try and fit it all in a 60min slot, though.

I didnt like Croft before, and watching the race today hasnt really changed my opinion on him. Brundle was his usual self which was good. Watched the BBC qualy highlights yesterday and thought Edwards and DC worked well. I know they were only highlights but the BBC coverage yesterday seemed so weak compared to the mighty SKY. It'll be interesting to see what the coverage is like for the races they're showing live

I find Sky a bit too clinical. Everything seems too smart, a bit formal.

Isn't it a 120 minute slot for the race highlights?

It is. But they say it's gonna be 60min race action / 60 min pre/post analysis. I'd prefer it to be 75/45 at least but oh well.

As much as I loved the new pitlane channel there was one thing missing: it had race control messages, lap time info, tyre info, team radio and so on but not the actual pitstop time. I think this should be tweaked a bit.

I liked the Croft/Brundle combo, he made a few mistakes such as "Rosberg behind Rosberg". But other than that I thought they did brilliantly.

Watched the coverage on Sky Sports F1 HD.

Quality is awesome (way better than BBC HD), Coft/Brundle duo in the commentary box did a quite good job. Unfortunately the channel doesn't have the engine sound option. Really a nice job so far anyway. The studio stuff with Anthony Davidson & Georgie Thompson isn't really necessary though.

Will watch the BBC coverage with Ben Edwards & David Coulthard later but unfortunately it's only a highlights.

Exactly what i thought. Georgie just stared at Ant, who rambled on.

Sky have been doing the whole "Touch screen analysis" stuff for football for a while now.

Thank god Gary Neville wasn't included with it.

True, but it only takes 1 person to operate a touch screen.

Ben Edwards is the man. Croft was a touch loud this morning, didn't need it at 6am!

Gotta be honest, i always liked Ben Edwards and i dont think i'll miss Martin B too much..
as a combination (using the Play by Play / Colour commentator rule) i thing the BBC now have it right.. as much as i like him and accept his expertise, ive never considered Martin Brudle a lead commentator and to me its like having "two strutting cocks in the hen hut" ... better to have one of each!

As for the chemistry.. considering its heir 1st "Live" race together.. i dont think the Edwards/Coulthard combination is that bad.. its got a lot of potential!

Ben has definitely unlocked something new in DC. He sounds more like the guy who gave witty interviews as a driver than the boring neutralist Red Bull\Mercedes shill he was when he was an ordinary pundit. His line about Damon looking as though someone had stolen his chips was up there with some of Brundle's best.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

There just isn't enough difference in quality to justify the difference in cost. The only thing Sky have going for them over BBC is that every race is LIVE.

I prefer BBC's commentary team but thats personal preference and Croft is rubbish in my opinion. DC and Edwards have great chemistry and I don't miss Martin at all.

Jake, DC and Eddie just work a lot better as a trio together. Lazenby? Hill was just all stiff whilst the SkyPad thing was useless. I get Sky need to get a woman on the screen, any which way possible but it adds nothing to the show.

Sky's post race coverage was really poor. Their in race coverage little better. They managed to get one interview during the course of a race with a driver, why on earth where they interviewing John Button when he's just left the toilet halfway through the race? Why is this important? You even saw Lee McKenzie interviewing someone on the world feed and you wonder why the Sky equivalent wasn't there. How didn't they nab Grosjean and get his opinion on his incident?

I'm going to stick with the Beeb.

Liking BBC's new commentary pairing and I'm also liking watching the race in highlight format, less chance of me falling asleep, think they had 80 mins of racing and the rest was pre and post race buildup/podium/interviews.
