The fact it's only covered around 100km of testing, whilst Porsche had covered over 100,000km by this point in their project says quite a lot.

This was some rumor by a journalist (German or something) and even if true could be by now old information. The first pics (the cantseeshit ones) had a red livery, so there are either two cars or one of these photo batches is much more recent implying multiple tests. 100 km @ COTA is just 20 laps.

First 'official' teaser by Nissan themselves. In (temporary?) livery-modus from the looks of it.

So will they unveil it in an ad during the Superbowl?

Seems likely as they're obviously starting a little build-up now.

The rear wheels looks incredibly narrow in that shot. Just like the other picture where front tires seems fatter than the rear, even though the rear seems to be closer to the camera. Maybe the eye is lying due pictures taken with a potato or maybe the rumors about FWD have some ground. Maybe electric power on rears and engine power on fronts.

The rear deck is also very high, which indicates that the diffuser is going to be bigger than what the other teams have. Anyway, I'm quite sure that this car is for Le Mans only, with or without the rear wing. Very interesting concept.

Totally don't expect the ad to have anything to with this. The original announcement/story about it on Forbes had nothing to do with racing, then Sportscar365 reported and then it became an interweb fact. Maybe 1 second of it could be about LM but whole ad costing several millions, no.

There are racing cars in the teaser. At COTA. The same track where the spy shots are from. http://sportscar365.com/lemans/wec/niss ... ad-teaser/

I am totally expecting an announcement at the Superbowl.

Not that it's going to be memorable, since Katy Perry will probably have a wardrobe malfunction in the half-time show.

Remember that the Ford LMP rumours were made up to see if certain news agencies would report them as fact, and then it turns out they did. Just like the Can-Am series that was supposedly being made.

The diffuser height can only be 20cm, so how this car is legal I'm not entirely sure.

Several, more universailly recognizable as race cars in a 1 second "look, here are racing cars" shot somewhat playing to the stupid narrative of the ad... not quite the same thing as somehow specifically showing a race car which isn't of type that most American viewers are even aware of. You're doing 1+1 and getting 3 :p

I guess we'll see, and even if Darren Cox is a sneaky bugger, he has hinted that "racing interested people should not miss the Superbowl ad". Whatever that means.

Anyway, it doesn't sound like Toyota's WRC program from 2017 will not affect the WEC program. Toyota supposedly has committed to WEC post 2017, but no public announcement. According to Graham Goodwin.

If it was just what was shown in the teaser, then I guess that recommendation is ok from him because the list of things he has not hyped is very short.

Extra "not"?

As expected, made its debut during Nissan's SuperBowl ad.

A different one was uploaded to YouTube just now:

Well it's only going to do one of two things, break down within the first hour because it's so complicated, or make the rest of them look slow.

I hope they've designed this through flow system better than Ferrari did when they tried it on their F1 car, but it is nice to have something so radically different to the rest.

How many of these will they have at Le Mans?

3, at this moment (I think that's still the case at least)

Marc Gené has been announced as one of the drivers.
