Yes indeed, a gutless Elan unit with a habit of catching fire.

Btw, now that old Speedtv.com is gone (became this horrible site: http://msn.foxsports.com/speed), John Dagys set up a new site:

Dagys has made up this USCR schedule:

Quote:
Below is an unofficial schedule, based on this author’s extensive research with industry sources over the last two weeks. It’s expected the series will confirm the 2014 calendar before or during the ALMS event at COTA on Sept. 19-21.

UNCONFIRMED SCHEDULE

January 25-26 – Rolex 24 at Daytona (NAEC)
March 15 – Twelve Hours of Sebring (NAEC)
April 12 – Long Beach (GT Only)
May - Indianapolis Motor Speedway
May 31 – Detroit (Prototype Only)
June/July – Six Hours of The Glen (NAEC)
August – Road America
September – Circuit of The Americas
October – Petit Le Mans (NAEC)

TBD – Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca
TBD – Virginia International Raceway

*Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, Baltimore and Kansas Speedway believed to be possibilities for 12th date.

Hmm, that looks all right as calendars go if it turns out to be correct. Real shame there's no place for Mid-Ohio and Lime Rock and as much as I wish that Mosport would get the nod over the pathetic alternatives for the 12th date I'll bet that $$$ will be the deciding factor. Hope the 6 Hours at the Glen does indeed retain a NAEC slot - I'd love to see what extras that would bring for us to see at the track like the GTE class Astons.

Haven't had much positive to say about the Fox Sports 1/2 over SPEED situation but live COTA WEC and the retaining of Aussie V8s has warmed me to them somewhat.

Needs Limerock. Though, if they schedule it right, I might go to The Glen for the 6 hours.

Which thread we should use for USCR news?

Image

Tudor = a brand of Rolex. It also replaced Rolex in WEC this year.

And now it's "Championship" instead of "Racing". At least a bit better.

TUSC? Or TUSCC?

Well, there are worse acronyms.

Still feels a bit like a brand of condoms though... :o

GTC championship leader crashed with 20 mins to go. Struggling to get back to the pits but I don't see them fixing the suspension in time.

Wow, that good a race eh?

I'll still hear Midweek Motorsport extolling the virtues of it like it was the second coming no matter how shitty/good it was I expect.

I have to watch ELMS and WEC races when they become available on Youtube (usually in their 3 or 6 hour entirety, thankfully) and they usually have the Radio Le Mans team covering them (not sure if that's by design or if they get surgically added by the uploader) and Hindhaugh and his squad do seem to get really excited at quite dull races sometimes. They get very excited at stats and split times and spreadsheets.

I think it's just a matter of target audience. Endurance racing is aimed at the same kind of people who have the patience to watch a race develop in front of them in the same way some people can watch a cricket match develop over 4 days.
And I know no-one who thinks the BTCC is their favourite motorsport series is going to be a massive fan of Endurance racing.

The races I've seen this year though seem to have about the same level of developments and exciting moments as a mid-2000s F1 race but spread over a much longer time.
Basically the car that has the least amount of technical trouble usually wins, it's a whole world away from other areas of motorsport which are about driver skill and on-track overtaking.

All of this is fine and as I say, it's great there are different series out there fulfilling different needs in different fans and aimed at different target markets...
However I don't need Hindy making sly comments every 20 minutes about how these drivers are racing flat out and making digs about the f1 tyre situation or any other time they get on their high horse about f1 and other forms of racing.

When they're on topic they're among the best commentary teams out there. Their Le Mans broadcast (obviously, the whole point of their existence), are sublime, particularly this year with the depths of despair that race began with then the way they still pulled it all together.
But as soon as they start to get sniffy about F1 I just zone out...
Case in point: Hindy called Hungary F1 a snoozer and said that Hamilton led from start to finish and didn't have to do anything but bring it home.
If you're gonna be snooty about F1 John, at least watch the damn race first and realise Lewis had to put in at least 3 overtakes (2 of them brilliant on Webber and one more standard but probably more important on Button) before you make those comments.

Anyway, today's rant over
TL,DR, RLM good when they're covering Sportscars, snobbish when they cover other series.
The End.

Someone needs to tell Hindy that best way to get new fans for the category is probably not to bash their favourite series. I don't think he actually despises F1 (sounds very different on RLM's Midweek Motorsport shows), he just pretends to which is very typical for a sportscar wannabe purist. I see that often on ten-tenths.com's sportscar subforum. It's some sort of virtual group masturbation. He just does it live on radio.

Sounds like that numpty Martin Haven on Eurosport. His disdain for anything that isn't "world class" touring cars was teeth-grindingly irritating.
