That's not the nicest livery, but I'm not sure I like the front profile of the 2014 cars (less width and the higher cockpit).

Not exactly spy photos: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set ... 667&type=3 :)

Definitely official photos. You don't get to sneak into Weissech when anything is running, nevermind a brand new top secret racing car. :)

Exactly, it doesn't look like an LMP1 to me. If you would have said it was an LMP2 I would have believed it too. I hate the downgrading with classes at Le Mans, first GT now the Prototypes.

The fact it looks a lot like an R18 concerns me though. If they would be competing against each other next year, they wouldn't be sharing data I assume.

They certainly aren't sharing data. Audi didn't even know Porsche had a LiDAR scan of Le Mans being built for internal testing. Obviously Audi already have there own simulators, and Porsche went out and scanned the circuit and had it built by modelers anyway. They never approached Audi for even the lowest level data.

Any link for this?

I don't understand that data sharing assumption either: did Peugeot and Citroen share data in WRC? :p

No link because it was a face to face conversation I had last year with H :P

More a fear that Audi will leave after 2013 and thus giving their expertise to Porsche. But I guess it looks a lot more like they will be competing against each other in 2014.

Stop with that FUD already :D

Porsche CEO Matthias Mueller:

Will you race against Audi, which, like Porsche, is a Volkswagen-owned marque?
MM: At that time the decision is that Audi takes place in LMP1, and we [do] also, so Audi will be a competitor, yes.

Hi-res versions of the same images (from Facebook):

You can see Adidas and Mobil 1 logos on the side (and of course Michelin). Either of those two may be a title sponsor. If they're not going to have one a la Audi, then that would be quite alarming imho...

I remember Mobil had a lot of coverage on the 1998 LM winning card. Adidas have invested heavily into the Porsche name for their Adidas Porsche clothing and footwear range. (I am an Adidas brand whore) so it would be a surprise to see a major clothing/sports manufacturer to be a title sponsor as I can't recall anything like apart from Reebok on an old CART car in the past.

An Adidas/Mobil 1 livery would be neat as hell!

I like the front, looks low and bulky.

Choose out the mechanics, red and white kit, possible the colours for the final livery?

Mobil 1 livery would be cool. Just like the 90's.

my first impression at first sight

The front splitter is a lot more agressive, though. They are going for much more downforce/drag on that part of the car than R18 or TS030, btw

Apples to oranges really as the R18 and TS030 are not compliant with 2014 regulations (which are allowing actual front wing airfoils at the front of the car). General consensus is that the regulations will force everyone into the open splitter concept as shown by pretty much everyone so far.

I keep forgetting how much cooler those late 90s cars looked than the current crop. Sucks they were low-flying deathtraps though.

didn't know about that as I hadn't had much time to read the 2014 regulations, in details.

Do you have any link explaining that, please?

If you're on Facebook, join the Mulsanne's Corner group. There's lots of good discussion and this particular quote came from the thread regarding the new Porsche:

Mike Fuller wrote:
The 2014 regulations change regarding wing shapes mean open splitters will be de rigueur.

The wing sections are explained briefly on the website in his analysis of the Perrinn LMP1 on 5/22/13:

Quote:
Also note the front wing flaps (1). These are true wing sections (per freed up allowances under ACO2014 rules): The mainplane also has a pure air foil section, no more thick trailing edges to skirt around the non-wing wings.
