Was reading about this track in Beto Carrero, the government of Santa Catarina had a meeting with Bernie Ecclestone 15 days ago, discussed that they don't have intention to take out Interlagos from F1 schedule, that they're wanting to share with Interlagos two brazilian grand prix, which extremely unlikely in my opinion. The ideal, If necessary, was to alternate with Interlagos.

They scheduled a new meeting for April with Bernie, let's see where it will end up. Honestly, track is not any superb thing but If we want to keep a brazilian Grand Prix in F1, we'll have to work specially because Argentina and Mexico are pursuiting the same. We know Interlagos is old and every year there's some complaint, we have to find somewhere else.

The circuit is already being built, it's not a rumour. The question is, will ie be able to host a F1 event?

Personally I'd prefer to have F1 stay at Interlagos (although it only produces decent racing if it rains)

I actually don't think it looks that bad.. Maybe they'll use it when they do all of the changes to interlagos that they were planning on doing

Rain or shine, Interlagos is one of the best races of the year. Even if it's just because of the atmosphere.

I just see some of these new circuits almost as vanity projects of individuals or governments, yes, with the goal of trying to promote their nation on global scale, but also with obvious problems. We've got numerous countries such as Korea, Bahrain (OK, it's tiny), Turkey etc, who have absolutely no motorsport heritage, no natural motorsport fanbase, yet they've got these massive arenas that they can't fill. OK, not the case here, as Brazil is strong in the history side, but what's it now. A domestic regional battle. One governer or whatever trying to promote his state over another, possibly leaving Brazil with two circuits, only one of which can be used per year to fry the main fish and possibly not working out for either in the long term.

it looks flat. i prefer for racetracks to have elevation changes. spa, laguna seca, the nordschleife

Right, but as soon as a track is made in a place that isn't normal, this forum starts bitching and crying like F1 is dead.

he's not getting into politics...

Build a track with challenging corners, narrower straights, elevation changes and shorter run offs. Stop banning corner designs like Eau Rouge. Ban super long straights into hairpins instead. Give more consideration to the circuit layout rather than the pit buildings and architecture. Place this crazy green stuff called trees and grass around the circuit. Then I might show some interest in a new venue.

Feel free to attempt to go to new countries, but if it doesn't work out after a few years, pull out. And definitely not at the expense of a classic race with a massive fan base.

I know, I know, I sound like a broken record.

A couple of years ago we were all begging for long straights with a tight corner or hairpin after it, that was the only reasonable place where F1 could overtake. Now everyone wants them out...

Who is "we"? I can remember what the sensible regular members were all saying, and everyone was mainly bitching about how the cars cannot follow each other too closely and how the braking distances are too short.

Those are the main issues. Fix that and you'll have great action even on the twistier, narrower tracks.

Julhi, I didn't mean to offend. I meant it's great to have another track exist, but F1 doesn't need it. Use it for local series, touring cars etc, but not F1.

Oh, and regarding Interlagos. Great track, but the last two races there have been shit for some reason, which has been a shame.

Yeah, I don't understand why Pirelli went so conservative in the second half of the season. But races that we gave 3 or 4 out of 10 would probably have been 7 or 8 if it was 2002. We were just spoilt with some cracking action earlier in the season.

yea, I know, I just felt like having a rant I guess my point is that other people around the world want to see live racing cars race as well, but yes, I can see what you mean about all these tracks popping up around the world wanting to host F1, seems to be 1 every month
