Don't know If you guys saw this news today but Jos Verstappen said on an interview to a dutch newspaper 'NUsport' that Schumacher had used several eletronic aids in the 1994 season. Second him, his own experiences in Benetton that year (in which he had the opportunity to drive Schumacher's car for some rare occasions) and a talk to Flavio Briatore years later, he concluded that Schumacher used eletronic help the entire season.

It's an useless accusation, whatever is said, nothing will ever be proved and so many years later...nobody cares but it's curious anyway. Honestly don't think it takes out Schumachers virtue in that season but it's a good reminder that a lot of things happen in backstages and nobody knows. If it's true, something that I seriously doubt, it's not any shame aswell...how many races Nelson Piquet won with the car out of regulations? How many regulation breaches had benefit drivers in F1 history? Anyway Schummy did a great job in 1994.

I assume that at least a hidden traction control they've used that year. Anything beyond that is either fantasy or speculation. This is fuel for the Anti-Schumacher fans.

This will surely cause for some trouble next year.

Manny manny penalties, in the end they will make railroads on tracks and who goes too fast and falls of the rails he gets a DSQ...

Do they still have to stay offline even if the block is successful and the driver behind has backed up? Or if he has managed to overtake? :?

The article on Verstappen is a nothing article. There is no context to the accusations and he's basing his opinion on a half conversation with Briatore as well as a half suspicion. In an interview with F1 Racing a few years back Pat Symonds said the Benetton wasn't in the spirit of the rules but it was not illegal. The famous "Option 13" was a sophisticated engine mapping system rather than a full blown traction control.

Talking about Verstappen, he'll be returning to racing very soon (but not in a way you will be expecting!)

It,s no secret that benneton was investigated and found to have code for traction control by mid sesson in 94, but they could not prove how or if it was used. benneton said it was old code and was not active, The car made a huge leap in performance from 93 to 94, i believe this is why they got such a harsh penalty at spa for the plank wear because they could not get them on the traction control. Tthe FIA needed to slap thier peepee

Check out the start at France, people were very very certain that they were using traction control. Nice review on here from Eurosport.

The reason Benetton didn't get nailed for the traction control was because there was no proof it was active. It was there, and you could activate it with a button combination, but it wasn't certain it was used. Senna said in Interlagos that it was clear that the car had traction control, and a few others said the same.

After the traction control drama in France, they had the refueling fire in Germany and it was found they'd tampered with the fuel rigs by removing the filters, allowing the fuel to flow faster for shorter pit stops. Then at Silverstone Schumacher overtook on the formation lap, then the team ignored black flags and he continued illegally. By the time the plank issue came around at Spa, Benetton had broken so many rules that there really was very little choice other than a harsh ban. And Benettons excuse (the kerb wearing the plank during a spin) didn't fit because it was worn in a different place than what went over the kerb.

Didn't Schumacher's car get auctioned a few years ago and the features section listed Traction Control?? Haha.

@Verstappen news - So, Benetton installed ''driving aids'' only on Schumachers car? From what I read it seems as though Verstappen is trying to say they didn't do that in his car because they were scared he would beat Schumacher? What a joker.

He goes on to point out that he beat Schumacher in go karts. Which says absolutely nothing. Jaime Alguesuari won the Felipe Massa kart event, beating a few F1 drivers.

I know Verstappen is not much of a Schumacher fan but he can accuse him of dirty driving. At least it would be more sensible

Is there a broadcast or stream for the FIA Gala from New-Delhi tomorrow ? Looks like Eurosport isn't going to show it this year.

Okay did some research:
- Lotus seems to have chosen Romain Grosjean for next season
- Petrov's manager says that an announcement is expected in a few days
- Another Twitter source says that Petrov has been told he will not be retained by Lotus

Bit random and not really sure if its common knowledge or not but my mum was talking to a bloke who knows someone who works in the Red Bull wind tunnel and apparently Adrian Newey has to hand draw all of his designs because he can't use a computer.
