According to motorsport-total.com the 2012 US Grand Prix is already pretty much in doubt because Austin is yet to pay the fee for the race (25 Mio US $).

Rather worrying, F1 doesn't need a farce in America.

It'd be a shame as it looks a bloody good track

Or a second one. Or a third one.

I assume farce was a typo, so I've corrected it.

Should have been another.

If it wants to make a foothold in America it can't keep doing things like that but maybe New Jersey will strike it right.

Would you guys like to see Mugello in F1 calendar, regardless of the real chances of it happening?

no.

i have something against F1 going to this countries that have not any motorsport history, build shit tracks with fancy buildings that I don't give a fuck about, produce awful races and no more than 5 spectators that actually paid for their ticket.

Going back a page and the HRT subject.. Richard is too busy looking towards his new job next year or is buried spuds deep in his lovely girlfriend to look on here.. His old man still peeks occasionally, mainly to look at the drivel in the FUNCUP thread!
I've know for a while of Richies plans but couldnt say anything .. But just to add, he's off the pitwall now and is going to be UK based at a team in Banbury..
I know it doesn't narrow it down much but it's better than Sheffield!

Hmmm, could be several teams around that area!

Also, its funny how F1 still cocks up in the USA. By expanding from 0 to 2 races, Bernie put the first race in doubt because its no longer the sole race.

By going for more, its cost F1.

Yes, but I think Texas and NY are further apart geographically than some other races like silverstone>Spa
Valencia > Monaco
Monaco>Monza

I'm not sure of how many miles exactly, perhaps someone may care to do the exercise?
(I'm at work!)

Yes I know. But still, two races in one country is always difficult

Exactly, and a country like America doesn't currently have anywhere near the interest and investment in F1 that Europe has.

IIRC we haven't had a wet qualifying session all year - when was the last time that happened?

Quote:
Leimer admitted that he was surprised at how easy it was to adapt to the car on his first day in an F1 car.

He found the precision of the Sauber C31 meant that he could attack relatively early in the day.

"It was my first time in an F1 car and I got used to it really quickly," he said. "I thought that it would be much more difficult to drive in the corners, but it's such a smooth car, which I didn't expect because the GP2 car is so aggressive.

"It was a really good day and I learned a lot."

He added that the biggest challenge he faced was getting used to operating the various steering wheel-mounted systems that require regular driver input.

But he was confident that he managed to master these systems rapidly and could concentrate on improving his driving.

"The hardest thing was not the physical side," he said. "The hardest thing was that I had to do so much when I was on the track. In GP2, you don't have to change much, but in F1 you have to use the boost button, the DRS and they ask you to switch various things.

"That's the toughest thing when you are focused on the track and you have to know what button to use."

Nowadays F1 is a farce :yuk:
