I do like that look, but in my book, open wheel cars should also have an open cockpit.

I actually like it specifically for the closed cockpit. I'm amazed that people are still so dismissive of the suggestion of closed cockpits after all the major injuries and deaths we've seen due to massive head trauma in open-cockpit racers in recent years.

The presence of a roll age in this concept is interesting too - could do away with the reflection, cleaning and emergency release issues around a one-piece canopy concept. Maybe even just run the rollcage without glass.

I agree that McLaren has not been as highly involved as Red Bull in the driver development program. Though in Lewis case McLaren has overseen his career since he started racing international karts. Even Whitmarsh has discussed this in the past.

It's the equivalent of sealing up the windows on a Stock Car and only allowing them to use a roof hatch.

Overseeing someone's career is very different to managing them. McLaren only made suggestions to Anthony of routes that Lewis should take, series and teams, etc... as well as some funding. If you knew Lewis as well as you are suggesting you do then you would know that prior to 2005 Anthony briefly ended Lewis' involvement with McLaren because of a difference of opinion. McLaren wanted Lewis to do a second season of EuroF3 whereas Anthony and Lewis wanted to do GP2.

Could Anthony Hamilton have managed to take Lewis to F1 without McLaren backing? Its the managers job to make sure that his client get's from Point A to Point B. That includes finding the financing to get to Point B. From Intl Karts to GP2, McLaren was the one who financed his rise through ladder. I'm aware that Anthony Hamilton went to Williams in 2004. Even though Williams thought highly of Lewis, Williams and BMW were not interested in financing his development. At end of they day, Vettel had Red Bull backing and Hamilton had McLaren backing during their development. The only difference today is Vettel finds he doesn't need a manager in F1. Given Lewis problems, maybe he needs a sports psychologist rather than manager.

SPEED is showing an F1 announcement next Tuesday at 2, rumor is it could be the "New York City" New Jersey GP.

Just think though, the way the calendar goes we could have three straight races: Monaco, Montreal, New York. How awesome would that be
