Another useless change, but I'm well beyond caring about NASCAR.

Why is there this mindset that drivers need more encouragement to push harder for a better finish? Surely you go into each race and try and get the best finish possible? It's only the end of the season where drivers might play it safer if they had a big points lead. Could it be that the cars suck in dirty air, and that's what's stopping drivers from being able to race to a better finish?

I think all of it is good, minus the playoff points. Basically nothing changes otherwise, the competition cautions we've had would be the end of a segment, it's going to be the same now just without calling them competition cautions and you get points if you're in the top 10 when it comes out. No harm there. More incentive to race, more ways to earn points, makes making the "chase" more valid.

A win no longer locks you into the chase. Someone can win or 'lead' at the end of 5 segments and it would be equal to a win. Lead at the end of 6 and you pass someone who has a win and only 5 playoff points. That's where I don't like the change. Still, you'll have to race harder for those segment points to tally up to a win.

I realized what I say that thing with races getting better was stupid and I apogize for that but that second quote I meant that.

Normally, I'd disagree, but I may have to go down that route. I don't want to explain stuff to new viewers if I don't understand it myself. I'd just point at the TV and say "here, NASCAR, go nuts".

Seriously though, weren't last year's all star format changes as well as last year's new g-w-c system developed in collaboration with the drivers council? Maybe the lesson here is drivers aren't the best people to ask how to run a racing series.

Pretty sure most of the All Star race idea came from Brad.

The new GWC system has SO MUCH potential. If they would just move that stupid overtime line to the last lap, it would be great. As it is now, it sucks.
