He said Mexicans that migrate to the US are criminals and rapists, but there might be (this is the part he wasn't sure on) good people among them.

Oh, doing a Gordon Brown then.

The Brown story for those that don't know:
Spoiler:
(GB was confronted by some woman while out campaigning for the Election, when he got back to his car, he proceeded to call her a bigot and generally slag her 'type' off, all the time forgetting he had a live mic attached and everything was recorded and later broadcast by the BBC, nobody wanted to be his friend after that either since the woman's 'type' represented 95% of Labour voters).

This article suggests that a higher downforce package will be tested in the Indy and Michigan races. Already two of the worst races with the current cars. Absolutely clueless idiots in charge.

Well that's a dagger to any hopes we could have had for positive change.

From reading the article, it sounds like it's less emphasis on higher downforce, but more emphasis on creating a lot of drag to create a huge draft. Basically trying to create NASCAR's equivalent of CART's Handford device racing. That actually sounds like it could be interesting at tracks with long straightaways (like Indy) and tracks with multiple grooves (like Michigan), so I guess it's worth a try to see if it works at those places. I won't write it off until I see it, especially if they stick to the idea they've talked about before of track-specific aero packages.

You could be right, but I'd worry that everything you gain in the draft will be lost when you reach the turns, and the front end of the car washes up the track more badly than it currently does. I guess we'll see.

I too thought of Indycars as to where they are trying to go with this. After seeing the races Indycar put on at Indy and Fontana, they want to try and get the stockers to do that too, I guess. While maintaining a low downforce package for intermediate and short tracks. They did say they were considering different aero packages for different tracks a while back IIRC.

Yeah, that's the trade-off with a package like this. That's why I am curious to see what it does at these two tracks as opposed to 1.5 milers. It definitely wouldn't work at Kentucky or Kansas, but I'm willing to give it a shot at Indy and Michigan.

NASCAR to bring back the Chase addons to the paint schemes for this year, only change from last year is that the spoiler will be yellow instead of the roof number.

NASCAR will use a higher-drag package w/9 inch spoiler, 1-inch wicker bill, 2-inch splitter at Michigan & Indy. #nascar

Jeez, that Michigan package sounds bizarro-batshit. Are they just trying to create pack racing there now?

They figure if they keep injuring fans, no one will go to the races and instead just watch them at home on TV which will increase the TV ratings. Its genius really.

I believe the 2014 package was a 9 inch spoiler?

Well I guess nobody can accuse them of not trying to improve the racing. Even if this does work though, different aero packages per track don't seem like a good long term solution; they'll increase costs for the teams and be fiddled with far more often than just finding one good aero package that works for the majority of tracks NASCAR races on. And they did just fine with one package for all tracks in the 90s (it wasn't perfect but it was far better than what we have now).

These fucking Jabronis at Nascar need to cut the side skirts off.....that's a move in the right direction. Stop making these things so aerodependent.

Looks like they have previously tested the wicker bill setup, found this pic from a thread in '13 for the proposed '14 changes.
