Eh, NASCAR is a show first, Mario recognizes that.

New rule effective immediately:
Quote:
"NASCAR requires its competitors to race at 100 percent of their ability with the goal of achieving their best possible finishing position in an event. Any competitor who takes action with the intent to artificially alter the finishing positions of the event or encourages, persuades or induces others to artificially alter the finishing position of the event shall be subject to a penalty from NASCAR. Such penalties may include but are limited to disqualification and/or loss of finishing points and/or fines and/or loss of points and/or suspension and/or probation to any and all members of the teams, including any beneficiaries of the prohibited actions.

"'Artificially altered' shall be defined as actions by any competitor that show or suggest that the competitor did not race at 100 percent of their ability for the purpose of changing finishing positions in the event at NASCAR's sole discretion."

So, are they aiming this at the team orders problem, the start & park problem, or are they killing two birds with one stone here? The wording seems pretty confusing IMO.

Both I think, at least I hope they're going to try and do more about the SnP problem. Doesn't seem as bad in Cup at the moment but there are too many in Nationwide.

So, I guess when your teammate or buddy has a piece of trash on their grill now you can't slow up and help them anymore? What's next? Are pit stops gonna be illegal too?

The fat lady's warming up boys.....This episode of Damage Control is gonna be the undoing of this sport.

The JPM-to-Furniture Row idea just got shot in the nuts, as JPM is headed to Penske to run IndyCar next year.

While I am ABSOLUTELY STOKED about that news, I guess this means the wait continues to see who fills that ride. I'm thinking either Jeff Burton or Mark Martin, but I could be wrong. Not many candidates left.

Would have been nice to see Allmendinger in that ride.

It would have... I honestly think he can bring the 47 up a notch, though. Had AJ gone to Furniture Row, had a rough time adjusting and didn't perform quite like Kurt Busch has, the questions of "oh, maybe AJ isn't as naturally gifted as Kurt" could wear on the guy.

This way, he can undoubtedly get the 47 group headed in the right direction, and gradually increase his value like Kurt did (minus the meltdowns, ha).

Mark Martin wouldn't do a full season though, they'd need someone fulltime so I guess Burton would be the choice.

Random thought, Martin/Burton in the 78 for clashing races, Montoya for the non-clashing ones.

No reason why not right?

I like Martin and Burton but it's obvious they're on the decline now. Would Furniture Row be interested? There's drivers down the back of the field that perform well in poor equipment and deserve a chance. I know David Ragan had his shot in a good ride, but he's impressed me at Front Row this year. I'd rather see someone like that given a chance, or a top Nationwide driver.

Cole Whitt.

That is all.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Whitt could be good. And whatever happened to Steven Leicht? I remember him having a one off race at Richmond and looking incredibly fast, in what was a backmarker team.

Cole Whitt or Parker Kligerman are unlikely, but probably the best choices at this point.

Regarding Austin Dillon, I found this posted on Twitter:
