The angle in the link Cartman posted (worked for me anyways) his car dug into the ground incredibly hard after glancing off the slow car. That's probably what did the damage before he went tumbling.

Good choice, IMO.

Anyone aside from me think discussion about a possible replacement for Michigan need not take place, and that Smoke will just race there with a cast?

Weird, the link worked when I clicked this time. Computer must be stupid.

Anyway, possibly. He broke his right leg and that was a pretty hard shot right in front of the right rear when he hit the lapped car. There ain't much between you and the outside of the car in a sprint. Seen a Supermod driver break his right hip and dislocate his left knee in a crash you'd think at first glace was walk away from material.

Lot of maybe's and possibles. What would be good, depending on the cause of the injury (cockpit intrusion for instance) is if the crash served to make sprint cars safer. We've lost some good ones this year in the sprints and if any good can come out of Tony's crash improved safety for the everyday racer would be nice.

From this angle you can see the impact much better. Definitely easy to see how the injury came of it now.

Thanks Chris. That's the video I meant to post, for those who couldn't get it to work.

Sadly, I don't think Robby had a chance......Max was testing a car for Tony at Road Atlanta last Tuesday.

Here is a cool profile about Dave Marcis.

He still has the need for speed.

After learning about that a little after the announcement, him being the choice makes a lot of sense over anyone else.

Tony needs a 2nd surgery, doubt he's back this year. I don't think NASCAR would let him race with a cast on given today's concern for safety. I wonder who they'd put in the 14 for the races beyond Watkins Glen. Someone on the radio suggested Larson but he's Ganassi property.

I'm cool with Max Papis. I've had enough of Robby for this lifetime.

I would have no problem with Regan Smith in the 14 after the Glen.

And Ganassi is a Hendrick-supported team (engines), so Larson wouldn't be a bad option either. But I wouldn't rush him.

Yeah, Kyle Larson's name came to mind, but I agree, it would seem a bit rushed for him. Looking at the Hendrick-related drivers, most of them being Turner Scott or JR Motorsports drivers, I'm thinking either Regan Smith or Justin Allgaier get the call. Maybe a mix of both, who knows?

I think Regan Smith makes the most sense. He has plenty of Cup experience and he was the one tabbed for the 88 when Jr was out.

He ran great at Kansas in that car, too. Should be interesting in the next week or so, anyway.

So if any of you already remember my "password curse" story, I apologize for saying it again. Basically, the number in my password at work corresponds to a driver I want to jinx - I used 24 often in my passwords, and he hadn't won jack squat for a while, so I instead treated the number as a curse... funny, since I'm not that superstitious a person.

Anyway...

In September, I really didn't want Denny to win the title. I used 11, and he broke a few times. Hooray!
In November, I used 48 since I wanted Brad to win the title. Jimmie wrecks that week, and blows up at Homestead.
In March, Denny was being a bitch again, so I used 11. The guy breaks his back.
Next up, I used 20... he got in a few wrecks, but he was the only guy to win while "cursed". haha
Last week, I changed it to 14, thinking Smoke was Gordon's main threat (even though pretty much everyone is) to making the Chase.

So uhhhh. Yeah.

So, put it to 48, and keep it there, forever.

For realz, I could let you all know when I do it. From there, we could sit back and observe the effects of the supposed curse. haha
