I'm ok with this. I actually didn't mind NBC's coverage. For some reason their audio picked up some great sounds on the big tracks. I'd take the TNT crew as well if they just replace Adam Alexander with Bestwick.

I hated ESPN's coverage and massive opaque topbox ticker and bottom line that made the screen feel clausterphobic. I am happy about this.

Or maybe even Diffey. I know people here don't like Leigh, but I do. I'd love to see him do NASCAR.

I'm fine with this as NASCAR doesn't force ESPN to making their highlights out of still photos and a reporter standing in the parking lot like they did in the early days of the Fox/NBC TV deal in the early 2000's.

The NBCSN coverage of Indycar has been quite good, so hopefully that transfers over to the Nascar coverage, as they will have more than 6 races each year to show their potential. I also heard that NBC will likely pick up the second half of the Nationwide schedule, meaning that it will pretty much be the same TV package as 2001-2006, minus the occasional races on TNT.

As for the commentators, I wouldn't be surprised to see Bestwick and Dale Jarrett both getting a job somewhere when the new TV deal comes into place. Bestwick replacing Adam Alexander would be excellent, and maybe FOX will finally realize that DW has gone mental and replace him with Jarrett.

If they insist having a pit studio have it be Nicole or Adam with Jarrett and Craven. Heck I've even liked to the work Randy LaJoie did with ESPN.

Maybe this will put NBCSN in more homes.

There are a lot of cable systems that still have the NBCSN on their digital or sports tier (like my own - they've got 3 Disney channels on basic cable for some reason, but not the NBC Sports Network, which means I have to depend on online streaming).

If not, NASCAR just committed suicide.

The NBC deal also includes certain K&N, Whelen Modified, and Toyota Mexico Series races. Also using their spanish channels Mun2 and Telemundo.

Adam Alexander has apparently signed a deal with Fox Sports 1 to do college football beginning in the fall, so lets pray he isn't in the new NASCAR TV package.

Cup: 13 races on NBCSN, 7 on NBC
Nationwide: 15 races on NBCSN, 4 on NBC.

This surely would boost NBCSN's household availability. And that could be a boost to IndyCar ratings, also.

NBCSN is becoming more SPEED than SPEED...

On the other hand, I hate Bestwick, so it's not that good a deal for me.

Hope Wally lands somewhere though, I like Wally.

Wally should be fine, TNT\NBC is the same thing from a NASCAR viewpoint.

Thought I might be the only one who likes Wally, he's got the rare quality of actually bringing his brain and opinions into the booth rather than always reading from NASCAR's script. I still can't stand Fox's coverage, there's not one redeeming feature of it.

I wonder if Andy Petree will move to NBC once the new contract kicks in and go into the booth with Wally and whoever does the play-by-play (either Allen Bestwick or Leigh Diffey will work for me). Wally and Petree do have a little on-track history: Dallenbach drove for Petree in the June Pocono race in 2001 in a substitute role for Joe Nemechek, who was injured in a testing crash IIRC; was also Dallenbach's last Cup start.

And jacksonedb made a great point about Dale Jarrett and FOX. If he does end up going to FOX it would be a reunion of sorts with Larry Mac, as he was Jarrett's crew chief for one season (1995). Provided that FOX rids themselves of the Waltrips.

Diffey covering NASCAR events will be sure to get the locals fuming.

Not anymore than when Jackie Stewart or David Hobbs did it surely.
