Wonder how many nr2k3 fans are whipping trucks around Eldora tonight?

Trucks at South Boston, Myrtle Beach and Eldora, what an amazing series of races that would be. Contrast to 1.5 milers.

Maybe this is why Fox wanted trucks?

They belong on short tracks. I believe this all started with Mansfield.

So they're

1) reverting to different templates and bodyshapes by manufacturer
2) reverting to 'go hard or go home' qualifying
3) reducing grand national field size
4) allowing teams to test

In other words, welcome to 1996. All great news, but I don't think NASCAR can deny most of the changes it's made over the last 15 years have been utter shit when it's now undoing them.

If this Eldora rumor is true, then Tony Stewart better get busy on addiing seats at that track because there is likely going to be a huge demand for tickets. One racing reporter says the demand might be "10 times" the demand for tickets the first truck race at Mansfield which was a hot ticket back in 2004. I would be very interested to seeing a truck race at Eldora. Based on what I've seen on twitter, a lot of drivers seem to be very excited about this. Parker Kligermann, Brendan Gaughan, Brad Keselowski, Justin Allgaier, Kenny Wallace, Bryan Clauson, Brad Sweet, Charles Lewandowski, Kyle Larson, Jimmie Johnson, Bill Lester, Matt Carter, Russ Dugger, and Hermie Sadler are among the current and former drivers who have all tweeted their excitement to see this race happen.

Wouldn't they need to upgrade pit road as well? Regardless, and I said this on Twitter, if this goes ahead, it will be the greatest race in the history of motorsports.

And I'm sweet with 40 car NNS fields, hopefully gets rid of a lot of S&P's (Curtis Key and Rick Ware, I'm looking at you...)

Honestly, I wish Nascar would make schedule changes more often. Besides Kentucky, how many other new tracks have been added to the Cup schedule since 2000? I'm not proposing massive realignments, but it would be refreshing to see the Cup series get new tracks. They could reduce the amount of 2 event tracks or cycle tracks on a yearly basis.

On personal favorites, it would be awesome to see Trucks at Toledo. Eldora, Mansfield, ORP or whatever its called these days, and South Boston would also be awesome.

The Eldora attendance record is somewhere around 24,000ish (hillside seating included). They have permanent seating just under 18,000 according to wiki. They can Deffinitly bring in the temporary bleacher seating if need be. I personally don't think it will be needed but who knows? Pitting there could be interesting. They might be forced to bring back the half time break unless they put some major money into installing a pit wall all the way around. They would also have to make either a pit opening in turn 3 or an exit off of turn 2 I would think.

I will be very excited if this ends up happening.

The event will probably be the most watched truck race of the schedule and not just in the first year either so maybe NASCAR will think about foregoing the low number of seats in favour of the massive draw on TV.

Slow down, there is no reason to bring in extra seating. Stand alone truck races don't draw much more than what Eldora is capable of dealing with now. They pack the house for the Prelude and that has the cup drivers in Late Models. They won't even have a crowd that size for the trucks.

As for pitroad, race distance will solve that one for you. Trucks can probably go 75 miles or so on fuel so if they make the race a 150 lapper or less then there isn't any reason to pit. Depending on how the track is, dirt doesn't wear out the tires like pavement does and aslong as they spec a rock hard right rear then new rubber won't make any difference. What would be cool is if they gave them a couple of compounds to choose from, but then the pit road would need to be dealt with.

Still, a NASCAR touring series on dirt... Gotta be the first time since the late 60's that's happened... If it happens.

Oh, and yes, they should definitely also race a Lime Rock... Old track, no chicanes.

Chevrolet will finally unveil their new car on 11/29. Guess you all will have to deal with the weird spy pattern for another month and a half.
