In all the other sports you have to be the cream of the crop, why should NASCAR be any different?

It's always going to be a measure of impact on the sport, which is not purely about stats and win rates. Does Mark Martin deserve to be in the HoF? I would argue that he does, considering his respect level among competitors, longevity in the sport and competitiveness across most of that career. But although he's got a pretty good win count he hasn't won a championship or any of the big races. On the other hand is Dale Jarrett HoF material? Although he's a champion and has won more than a few big races, to me he isn't. I guess all that says is that everyone's criteria for greatness is different and hall of fames much like the Oscars are a marketing tool with no scientific value.

I will be disappointed if the NASCAR hall of fame doesn't include Wendell Scott or Janet Guthrie, their impact on the sport makes them worthy although their stats don't.

Everyone's entitled to their own opinions, of course, but Benny Parsons eligible and Dale Jarrett *not*??? That's kinda crazy. Sure, Benny's influence on the sport in the booth and on track is tremendous, but Dale's accomplishments are equal (in titles, anyway) or better (total wins, and Daytona 500's) to Benny's. Dale's a shoe-in.

Also, I heard on last night's broadcast that Dick Berggren turned 70 yesterday. That's crazy! He doesn't look over 60! In any case, he will be missed.

According to @nascarexaminer on Twitter, Red Horse Racing has suspended operations on John King's truck series team... from Daytona winner to being on the sidelines... :(

That's a shame for John King. Really hope he can find something better, and soon with Dover coming up.

Hasn't he wrecked in every race since Daytona? Can't really blame them for letting him go.

He should really try to to get a K&N Ride and just get some laps underneath him. He'll bounce back, he just needs more seat time.

All he drove before the trucks was late models, correct?

He got a top ten at Martinsville and finished 13th in Kansas. Not too bad.

Well, now I feel old.

We're a long way from Theresa holding her in her arms on the final lap at Daytona in '90, only to have her burst into tears shortly after.

Where's the drama?

The continuing theme of the season is the fans' complaints that the racing has been somewhat dull. Whether or not you enjoy the long green-flag stretches, the stats say that late-race drama is down from last year, even though last year is tough to top.

Take these facts into consideration:

• There have been three races this season with margins of victory of more than three seconds. There were two such races all of last season.

• There's only been one race with a lead change in the final 10 laps this season. Fifteen of 36 races last season had a lead change in the final 10 laps.

• Four of the 12 race winners this season led at least the final 40 laps. Only four of the 36 winners last season led at least the final 40 laps.

These onboards that RCR have been posting on YouTube are awesome.

Here's a GoPro helmet cam of Kevin Harvick testing at VIR

One of the other cars on track goes off at 4:45

I was thinking more like late 90s early 00s when she was getting all grown up, but alas my chance to marry into the family is over. :( :(

The only thing about that camera is that I wish it were off to the side of his visor (somewhere out of his field of vision, obviously). As it is here, you can see a bit, but it's mostly an angle of Harv's hands on the wheel, as opposed to a view of the track and how he's running it.
