Didn't this happen last year as well?

I'm surprised with the amount of outcry I'm seeing from some media outlets about the TBR\SHR point swap... I know it's a huge name, I know it's Danica, but they're acting like this has never ever happened.
I agree that there should be some rule about it, but there isn't, so fair game!

I actually don't see how it's being seen as a big deal at all. It was going to happen, one way or another.

I think it's just all of us seeing the leading indicators for an absolute Danica fest all through speedweek like we saw at Indy a few years ago. With the two car deal and arca shitting everything up, the Danica crap has the potential to make this one of the most disappointing and frustrating speedweeks in recent memory. Whether or not it's been done before isn't the issue, it's really just another nail in the coffin.

I've never liked the concept of buying your way in to races, but it's always happened. I'm sure Stewart's offering Baldwin more than they'd make by start and parking, and he'll get more than Baldwin would've through media exposure, etc.

Nothing can be more painful than DW at the end of his career...

I never knew DW owned the #17 after the Hendrick days until I watched the HoF documentary last week. That must have been a tough pill to swallow accepting the teams failure. Then if course the embarrassment in the 66 car... Kind of wish he would have ran the full season for DEI in the #1 car though, would have been interesting to see the results.

His last season was pathetic.

He started 2nd at the Brickyard. I marked out for that. Ran halfway decent too. But yeah, as a whole it was pathetic.

I also wondered what would of happened if he ran for DEI a full year. He still had it 1998 and damn near won Pocano on old tires before falling back to what was it 6th or 8th?

I read his ghost written book a few years back, he talked about how the 66 looked good on paper but in reality he knew he was going to be a shadow of his former self. I cant' remember exact quotes at the moment, he just knew it was going to be bad by the looks of it.

The Brett Bodine story about his only win was pretty funny in retrospect.

Going back to the Twitter celebrity reply issue... I've always received responses from @lindythackston the pit reporter for the Indycar series on VS. She's awesome and an absolute doll at that.

I remember that story about Brett's lone victory and how Darrell actually said he was a lap down. Do you really think it's true?

Travis Carter's operation was always... mehhh... so him going to a two-car operation was somewhat questionable, and DW in the latter days of his career probably deserved better than that. It was a tough time, though, and looking back, the 66 was probably on par with Front Row or Tommy Baldwin these days.

If watching old tapes has taught me anything, however, it's that DW, in his own car, didn't just putter around. Yeah, he struggled a bit, but man, he had a top five at Sonoma in his last year in owning his team, he'd consistently run up front, even if he didn't have the finishes to prove it. 1998 started absolutely horrible for him and his sponsor search, and the Tabasco Fiasco didn't help him out too much. He's pretty much the reason a past champion's provisional can only be used 5-6 times a year.

But, like Racefan4ever said, that 1 car rejuvenated him, proved he could still do it, and then was back into junky rides. Again, though, a 2nd-place qualifying run at Indy told us he still had the guts, so long as he still had the car.

Front Row > Carter IMO
