Yeah, but money for what? 20 sports cars? Lavish houses? I mean, I know the housing situation is absolute junk right now, but c'mon. Also, I don't see how going from a sponsor-less 43rd place car is any worse than going into a sponsored top 10 ride for a team owned by Dale Jr., or Kevin Harvick, or any of the big name owners who also own in lower series.

Maybe it's because I'm a simple-minded person from a simple-minded part of the world, but if I made the kind of money a Nationwide series driver made, I'd be all set, man! But hey, that's just me. I think pride is valued more than money, but then again, to some people, money is pride. heh

Almirola will join a team that is poised to compete for a spot in the 2012 Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. Paired with veteran Crew Chief Greg Erwin, Almirola will get behind the wheel for a team that earned one top-five and 10 top-10 finishes in 2011 en route to a 15th-place finish in the owner point standings.

They really dont make that much money. A couple grand a weekend roughly for 32 weekends a year is only 64,000. You go from doing commercials for aarons and making probably close to a million dollars a year to a nationwide team which dont really do commercials and making half the wage per weekend. Kinda tough.

God I hate being the one that spoils hope but come on, Reutimann doesn't have age on his side. He is a good guy but not really a proven record. As much as people agree with Shell getting rid of Kurt, that is another deciding factor in Reutimann not getting a big time ride. What do you guys expect? Sponsors have final say. They don't want an aging driver with average finishes representing them. Sucks but reality. He had his chance, time for the younger guys, as unfortunate as it is. Welcome to todays world. To be honest, I never understood how a few decent drives in trucks made Reutimann a Cup driver.

I think you missed my point, which isn't that big of a surprise. The point is that Reutimann is a pretty underrated driver and deserves a better ride than the Tommy Baldwin team.

Yeah, he is among the older guys, and in terms of being attractive to the bigger teams and sponsors, he's beyond those days. Still, winning two races (one was a fluke, but a win is a win) in less-than-stellar equipment would have counted for something 10-15 years ago. It's too bad those days are over, because he's more talented than a few of the guys who had big rides last year (I'm lookin' at you, David Ragan).

Actually that 70 car's underrated, and has been ever since Mark Green drove it. If Johanna can string out a top 10 or two in that car, then I reckon she'd be doing her career no harm.
