I think he'll end up at Hendrick.

Competition Director at Hendrick.

Taking the tarts, er... Letarte's, job would be good though.

I concur with the other posts. I do not understand the move at all. Supposedly it was decided back in the Summer before Smoke and Co. got on a roll. At that point in the season I could understand it, but once they got it turned around surely that decision would have been reconsidered. Methinks there's more to the story than what's been told.

Grubb was very emotional after the win in Homestead, probably extra because he knew he was leaving the team after that then.

I heard it's because he's got rather a promotion a SHR and stay with the team, but no more as a crew chief.

Not sure how much validity it has, but the guy has a point - Roger Penske has fired drivers under contract before.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/w ... z1fEazBjfn

Kurt is seeing a Sports psychologist for his issues, so that might be as far as it actually goes. Him getting the axe at Penske seems unlikely, but stranger things have happened... like him getting the axe at Roush, as defending champ. That was quite the huge news story, even though he was out of that ride a few races later anyway.

he didn't get sacked from Roush iirc, he bought himself out his contract a year early, Roush didn't want him to go but eventually agreed (probably after one of his famous tantrums).

Kinda... he got sacked (with three races left in '05) after the embarrassment that came with one of his trademark tantrums when he got stopped by the po-po in Phoenix. I'll never forget the line "Roush Racing is retiring as Kurt Busch's apologists". I'm no fan of Roush's, but that was classic.

I see Roger having a long successful run with Brad and Paul Wolfe in the same vein as he did with Rusty for all those years. Kurt will probably be let go unless he matures a bit as he's not worth the trouble. Much rather have Brad lead the team with Hornish or Kligerman in the other cars if I were Roger. It seems reasonable to assume that Sam has gotten a hang of this stock car thang to where he can, combined with his Indy 500 winning resume, be a good brand ambassador for Shell-Pennzoil in NASCAR.

Jimmy Means is coming back to Sprint Cup as an owner:

Quote:
Hamilton Means Racing plans to make Cup debut in 2012: Hamilton Means Racing, a team created by four principal owners with various levels of involvement in NASCAR, have announced their intentions to go NASCAR Sprint Cup Racing in 2012. Dell Hamilton, Jimmy Means, Arash Khorsandi and Kelly Owen will team up and look to make their first start in the Cup series at Daytona in February. The team is still reviewing their options for the driver of their newly formed #52. Recruiting talented individuals available in NASCAR and obtaining additional equipment vital to the team's effort, is the focus of the group at this point. Their plans are to operate from Means Motorsports race shop located in Forest City, NC alongside his fulltime Nationwide team. Means, no stranger to the NASCAR scene, has many years of experience as a Driver/Owner with 455 starts in the Cup series dating back to 1973. He has also owned and managed the #52 Nationwide team for the past 10 season since retiring as a driver. Hamilton Means Racing is hoping to secure additional partnerships and sponsors based on the relationships that Means, aka "Smut", has developed within the sport.
Hamilton, a businessman from Chattanooga Tennessee, operates Crusader Staffing who has been, and will continue to be, a longtime supporter of MacDonald Motorsports in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. Hamilton is excited about his role in the startup of HMR Racing, and stated "after researching what it takes to be competitive in NASCAR's top series, we are ready to get going and establish our team in the series." Owen and Khorsandi, Floridian natives, longtime friends and fans of the sport, see this opportunity as a way to fulfill a lifetime dream of being involved in the operations as well as creating new relationships in the sport of NASCAR. Owen entered the sport as a sponsor and has been involved with operations at Means Motorsports dating back to the summer of 2010. The two say they are aware of the obstacles ahead of them but look forward to the challenge.

I don't know if anyone is watching or even cares about the awards show, but Reba might be the most awkward host in recent memory. Then again I don't think they have ever had a decent host...

Being an asshole will get you nowhere, folks. Wonder if Kurt will finally learn that, now.

Better yet, a start-and-park ride.
