Not really looking forward to last 4 remaining races. Championship is over (well, it was virtually over months ago) and don't expect to see any surprises anymore. Even weather looks bone dry for Austin. Only Interlagos interests me, because I like the track. The rest are just tilkedromes (or tilketized like Mexico).

Well, luckily alpine skiing season starts soon. Downhill is F1 on snow, if you will. Well, for DH only skills matter, not the equipment like in F1.

one interesting thing is that qualifying will be on saturday night, perhaps more appealing than the race itself

Red Bull can seal the constructors title this weekend. Apart from that, nothing exciting about this weekend as it has never delivered a good race so far.

Ah, and: easy win for Verstappen unless his car fails.

My annual post to say I'm the only one that likes this track, particularly the huge incline into turn 1 and down into the maggots/becketts ripoff

But yeah, race won't be great. Max 1st, Leclerc 2nd (maybe on pole won't lead for long) then the team-mates and then the Mercs and then....I dunno, Alpine Vs Mclaren might be interesting

Also they go all the way to america to race at the exact same time as the NASCAR race, therefore dividing any potential audience and motorsport fans who might be interested in something new if the 2 series weren't on simultaniously...
Always thought that was stupid,....

I'm OK with this track. Since F1 won't race at Road America then we can do with COTA.

If they didn't change the circuit in anyway, but ran the chicane before the kink (lets be real, they'd have to), it would still be better than 90% of the circuits on the grand prix calendar.

I think with Liberty Media's influence, less that from FIA, and demise of Charlie Whiting, they could race at Road America without changes to the track itself. If there's a will, there's a way. It's not more dangerous than Jeddah or more old-school than Zandvoort or Suzuka. Only thing that needs revamping is garages and VIP-areas for those princesses, who don't want muddy shoes. That applies to most non-Grade 1 circuits, actually.

Come to think of it, the whole FIA grade system is just to ensure F1 people can feel rich and privileged with their air-conditioned cuisines and not live like those poor amateurs who must fix their cars in tents or run-down shacks in Grade-4 circuits. I think it would be good for F1 to go back to basics for once. They want to decrease budgets? Well there's a start for you. No more motorhomes and spacious interiors. Just an open field and tin roof.

Actually I'm pretty sure the grading system is solely about safety, there is after all a "Grade 1-A" rating for testing, IE "It has no infastructure or much else around but it's safe enough for you to put up a tent and go test there if you want"

Imagine DRS at Road America though......they'd put it at the 2 straights which are already long enough to have people driving by

I guess the main problem with Road America for Liberty is not having the necessary amenities for their VIP guests to spend their shitload of money on VIP tickets

Yeah, I get that place would have to be "upgraded" to host F1 round. So I'm fine overall. We have the fake marina at Miami and I can't wait to see the new Vegas track :p

I´m sure they could build an exact replica of Road America somewhere in the Nevada desert, with the best facilities, and it would be better than that pig silhouet track that they plan in Las Vegas.

Hold on, you might be onto something there. Vegas is well known for its replicas of famous objects. 8)

The irony, the one driver that was super jazzed to be racing in Las Vegas and gone all in on Americana won't ever get to race there.

At least the American rounds allow me to listen on my drive to work. This circuit has never appealed to me for 4 wheels for some reason though.

I just don't like how barren COTA is.
Just compare this:

To this:

Or this:

To this:

Why build F1 track in the flat desert when there are so many states with beautiful landscapes and lush greenery? Michigan, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, North Carolina to mention a few. Obviously you don't want to ruin national parks with a nearby tilkedrome, but even when built far away, in the helicopter shots you would see the backdrop at least. And there would be trees surrounding the track, not just wasteland straight from Fallout.
