Mercedes weren't even good here when they were good, no way they're going to be good here when they're bad

Congratulations Max Verstappen, 2022 Formula 1 World Champion

(And 2023, 2024 and 2025 too)

well now they're bad on the fast tracks so it may apply some reversed psychology here

more like Leclerc setting one more pole and see that going away on Ferrari strategy

My favorite grand prix of the year...at last. Even if Sunday is a complete borefest, it'll be well worth the wait having this back on the calendar.

Hopefully it will rain. We had a couple of very wet qualifyings, but races have been mostly dry. Imola was damp outside the racing line and Monaco was spoiled by lengthy red flags.

14 years ago, this was the first night race.
Now, every race in the Middle East is a night race, and still F1 and FIA and promotors are hyping this up as THE night race. It has lost its unique factor and IMHO doesn´t have anything else to show for. Except maybe the longest race of the year, it often reaches the 2 hour limit.

From this race onwards we'll dive into all the championship scenarios. I wouldn't be surprised if Max claims the title this weekend.

I made calculations some weeks ago but I forgot about that stupid sprint race.
If Verstappen wins, Leclerc has to finish 9th or lower for Verstappen to be champion. If Verstappen doesn´t win, we take it to Japan.

But Verstappen will win, Leclerc will finish in the top 8, and Verstappen will be seal the deal in Japan.

It still has plenty of appealing factors that sets it apart from other races and makes it my favorite grand prix of the year. For instance:
- While it may not have the appeal of being the only night race, the Singapore cityscape at night has way more vibe and atmosphere than any of those boring desert tracks.
- Due to the layout and street circuit nature, the race almost always seems to produce some eventful situations whether at the start or through mid-race overtaking.
- Due to the length and sheer number of corners, the lap actually feels like you're going somewhere and is pretty damn impressive to see a driver string a pole lap together here. Think back to all the epic laps we've seen from Vettel and Hamilton here.
- And lastly, unlike most other tracks, the races don't seem to fly by with the laps ticking by in a blink. Whereas, it actually feels like an event and somewhat of a marathon.

Yeah, Singapore at night is the only venue that feels to me that can rival Monaco somewhat.

And that freaking flying boat.

They also hype this race up as most deals with sponsors and what not are made on this weekend. One of the reasons Monaco has lost some strength on their permanence on the calendar.

I like this track, has the potential to always throw up a decent race.

Hope for some hilarious fun but Max will win easily.

Max could pull a Schumi in 99, smash both of his legs and Ferrari would STILL throw away the championship.

It's not even a NASCAR law but US federal law passed for outdoor sports across the country.

So no, F1 will race even if there is lightning. Let's be honest, the monsoon season in South-East Asia stretches through October and they are fine with it.

The Singapore sling was the only good thing about this place. :whistling:

Oh it's had some good moments, Vettel single handedly ruining his chance at a world title with Ferrari with a swerve off the start, that crazy Massa pass where he nearly crashed but somehow got by over the bridge, Schumacher's stupidest accident since hitting someone on a Parade lap, Lewis' "Lap of the Gods" in 2019 or whatever it was and a few other things

But it's not a track I look forward to, odd to see the forum be oddly positive about an F1 race, and it's this place of all places

Yeah that was a pretty good lap, but I actually found Vettel's 2015 pole lap to be more impressive. Only non-Merc pole all season. :8:

Jennie Gow might be a bit delayed at arriving at Singapore as she's stuck on the runway at Heathrow after an unsafe release for a Singapore airlines plane sends it clipping the wing of another.

Now they're having a committee meeting about it! Stick the plane on the runway and send it out there!

This is the worst start to a plane journey to a grand prix that I've seen in the WHOLE of my LIFE!
