meanwhile good tracks with Grade 1 like Portimão and Mugello are sorely ignored

I feel scared driving this track in f1 2021, can't imagine doing it for real

That wall is badly designed. It doesn't add anything to the challenge, it should not be coming back to the track like that, and it needs a SAFER. If it was parallel to the track he would have walled away from it easily

The wall and that fucking kerb which bottomed out the car and launched him. Not sure why they don't have a flat kerb there like some of the other corners. They really need to sort that out.

Do they have to wait for the helicopter to get back before restarting, or do they have more than one?

I think they almost always have 2 on site or at least another on standby not far away.

The whole track is badly designed and should never have got a license, but eh money talks right?

It needs to strike the balance between challenge/spectacle and not being unecessarily punishing like where he crashed.

That curb gives meaning to that turn, otherwise it would be an easy flat. It's a clever way to make it difficult without having a solid wall outside at the line. They just need to make it so that you don't go to the fucking hospital for barely grazing it and sliding down what should be a straight line

Long day for the drivers. And they probably haven't even slept properly due to the meeting yesterday. That may lead to more driving errors.

These new cars could probably thrive on fast tracks like that now.

But you don't need to compromise safety to give meaning to a corner man. Now that they are enforcing the track limits as the white line strictly this year, that should be enough of a challenge for the driver to keep it within bounds without the risk of running wide and getting launched into a wall at high speed. That elevated kerb is just one example though, this track needs a major overhaul from a safety assessment point of view as there are a lot of sketchy sections.

What a weird weekend if we have both "2nd drivers" for Mercedes and Red Bull beat their team mates.
