Apologies if this was already posted but I didn't see it. Looks like the only potentially interesting corner on the Las Vegas circuit has already been ruined by a chicane - https://www.racefans.net/2022/09/03/f1s-las-vegas-track-layout-changed-by-addition-of-new-chicane/

Gee, I wonder where they got the idea for the layout...

Tokyo R246 is perhaps the best street course that was never run in real life (apart from the final corners that are a bit unrealistic for racing)

but regarding tire warmers, I believe is just a matter of adaptation, professional drivers are able to handle this as long they grow a habit out of it. If they cannot, they don't deserve the superlicense

and I also agree tires are pretty crap but whatever they do, they're still getting paid at the end of the day

I've made a few changes myself that I think are necessary to make this track any decent

The thing about Vegas is the landmarks around the track. And maybe those long straights can see multiple lead changes on the final laps....

recently drivers have been expressing concern about tires again

looks like they were living under rocks for the past 40 years. F1 needs to ban tire warmers since 20 years ago and they keep claiming is unsafe

well so Indycar is unsafe since ever just because they run their tires to temperature instead of putting them on blankets

Usually the Cold tyre phase after a pitstop lasting up to a lap vs a car undercutting on hot tyres is the only exciting part of DTM races.

Also a lot of the season of F1 takes place in hot hot heat countries where they could get a similar effect on the tyres just leaving them out in the sun for a while

Drivers are definitely being too cautious on this, because warm tyres are all they've ever known (and what are the tempertures on the tyres after theyve sat for 45 seconds to a minute on the grid waiting for the rest of the pack to grid up anyway?)

After the first 3 or 4 races with no tyre warmers, it'll become the new normal again and life will go on, they're just trying to cling to what they have because their skillset is based on the current regs and they don't want to have to learn a new skillset regarding colder tyres.

But they'll learn eventually.

At this level most of the drivers are more that good enough to cope with cold tyres.

The issue is Pirelli.

I recall that some drivers claimed banning traction control was dangerous in 2008.

well is not like they are having turbo lags or 1200hp kicking on their backs with a 3 seconds delay on a fully mechanic transmission without software aids

Drivers should use their feet more like a precision tool rather than an on/off switch

We see time and time again in the wet how most of these F1 drivers drive like they are still in the dry.

this is one thing I feel like most major series are screwing up as they keep aiming for the light switch

finesse with the throttle is a dying breed in several major genres at this rate

like one of the legends once said "you can take one lap without even doing the steer, the problem is that the tires will not last"

this one

Verstappen speaks against the sprint race expansion. We can only hope six will be the maximum number but I wouldn't bet any money on it.

this is what i've loved about picking up sim racing, is really getting a sense of the finesse and control professional drivers have had over their cars - especially the older ones. the newer gt3 cars are fun to drive because of the abs, traction control, etc - but man, learning not to "need for speed" on a 1970's f1 car has given me another level of respect for this sport we love so much

Same with the Formula Vee in rF2 - I couldn't get my head around the thing and spun at literally every corner, until I learned to slow down. It sounds like a stupid comparison to F1, but I reckon it isn't too far off of the solution when tyre warmers are banned.

It´s very simple. If there is less grip available, drive slower. If you´re a better driver than the others, you can maybe go faster. If you go off, it means you went too fast for your skills.

that's why drivers like Ayrton Senna were so praised, he could find grip on the inch scale, while spooling up a turbo with his right foot while doing heel and toe

The fact that you can drink at Stage Door while the F1 race happens around you makes this race brilliant.
