I still think they'd do whatever Ferrari wanted, it's just Ferrari are too incompetant to even know what they want any more

MGU-H is ditched and VAG can now step in as a supplier

So this isn't Red Bull writing the next set of engine regulations to ensure they'll be dominant into the next decade or longer then... :whistling:

Is it really necessary to be cynical about a regs change that actually improves the problem of unnecessary expensive technology and succeeds in getting new engine suppliers in for the first time in forever? I kinda thought that would be something people here could actually agree on being happy about. But anything that doesn't help Merc I guess...

it's always both. i see the simplified engine changes mostly as a positive, but it would be naive to think redbull aren't lobbying the shit out of things that advantage them. same for ferrari, merc, etc. i do feel that mercedes likes to think they have a sense of selfless sportsmanship, but again - it would be naive to presume they strictly adhere to that

i also get the sense that the fia is tired of the teams at the top trying to control their decision making processes and are starting to tell them to "fuck off"

I would be more excited if there was another new team rather than another new engine manufacture to be honest. Especially with key pillar number one:

Maintaining the spectacle – the 2026 Power Unit will have similar performance to the current designs, utilising high-power, high-revving V6 internal combustion engines and avoiding excessive performance differentiation to allow for improved raceability.

i think the idea is to simplify the engines so that any advantages will be nominal.

Just read through the rules for Zandvoort, and flares are banned there as well (but we all know people will still manage to get some in anyways)

This season is a bit like 2005. The team that dominated for years has suddenly lost its speed and can´t even win races anymore (we don´t talk about Indy 05). Other teams have taken over, but reliability issues are a big factor and the fastest car also breaks down the most.

Now we need a last lap pass for the win from Leclerc on Perez in Japan to make it complete.

you're missing a farcical race with tyre problems

hard to pick any venues remaining where this could happen however

Breaking news...Top F1 team tries to flex it's muscle in an effort to influence upcoming technical regulations so as to preserve their advantage lol Ferrari, Mercedes, other top teams etc. have all done this in some way shape or form for decades.

My God...what a shock, nearly choked on my tea reading that this morning...
Question now is whether it's going to be Alpine or Haas for him?
