I guess this kind of outcome was highly predictable when you have the Race Director trying to be a "personality" and inserting himself into the narrative where ever he can. Case in point, having a camera on him.

My Christmas wish list as a disgruntled fan....I just want consistent application of the rules and procedures not seemingly arbitrary stuff that seems made up on the spot.

All I care about is a 2022 rules change that the radio from Race Control to the Pit wall goes ONE WAY ONLY

And yeah, a new race director will be inevitable but that guy should only be TELLING the teams what he's doing, not negociating with them or subject to their badgering him through the entire race when he needs to focus on safety issues

Well, he is a Mercedes driver so he goes team speak already ;)

The current rules are a bag of shit and were bend so many times it doesn't really matter. I wonder when will they get rid of changing tires under red flag? The lucky dog stuff also needs to go by rule. Hamilton profited from the rules at Imola and got hosed in Abu Dhabi. FIA wins with house money all the time.

Well, he would say that.

Like Silverstone and Imola, which hampered Mercedes? :whistling:

I think the difference is that the track status at Imola, and the crash at Silverstone objectively called for a red. Those were big. Here, people will feel that there was a latitude of action for the officials

That's a fair point. I still see no evidence that Masi would have called things differently if Max had been ahead. He could have told Hamilton to give the place back on lap 1. Both teams have had controversial calls go their way.

Yeah, why are they allowed to even contact him? Line should be locked until he contacts them and then they can acknowledge yes or no. There could be an assistant filtering the calls for only real safety concerns, not discussing decisions and expressing feelings

OK, I'll ask the inevitable:

Where's the Dutch commentary of the finish?

well race finally over, I thought Lewis had this in the bag but of course they had to create the game 7 moment

as long I'm satisfied with the results, the rulebook was shredded by Masi like never before. Mercedes should sue his ass out for lack of consistency and commitment

but anyway, Mercedes is good in builing a F1 car but unable to trust their own pit crew

Crofty's call as Max crossed the line:

"The title can only go one way, and it's GOING DUTCH!!"

Which....surely means the title would be divided equally between them, half and half?

and Perez, what a legend. Red Bull nailed picking him for the drive, when things worked he did everything he could

Sainz's streak of 15 consecutive points finishes (and the unlikely podium here) enabled him to claim 5th place in the standings. Leclerc only finished 10th in the last race so he dropped behind Sainz and Norris in the standings.

Sainz was the only driver who finished all 22 races in the 2021 season.
