Imagine if that incident had occurred a couple seconds before Mazepin arrived on the scene. It would've been catastrophic at racing speeds or if Russell had been turned sideways.

Not a fan of this track all. As others have said, it looks fun for hot lapping, but as far racing for F1 is concerned, it's poorly designed. We may get lucky this season or next season, but it's a catastrophic incident waiting to happen.

Race on normal circuits where gravel won't allow cutting. Problem solved

The ONLY time any of that logic would apply is if someone just divebombs the leading driver on the inside. The leading driver deserves his lane/line in that case. Otherwise, if you don’t give someone room while they’re alongside you, you’re being an asshole.

Just wondering why Red Bull didn't decline Masi's offer and allow it to be referred to the stewards, it likely would've resulted in a 5sec time penalty, likely applied at the end of the race as we're not expecting anymore pit stops. With the race pace that Verstappen has, and with Ocon still in front of Hamilton, it's very likely that he could've built up and maintained a 5 second gap. And if not, then he would've dropped to 2nd at worst.
