I thought this would be atrocious based on the races in the early 2000s, but it wasn't bad.

Leclerc proving Montoya right and going around the outside of someone at the Tosa hairpin (turn 7) and the late Safety Car spiced things up, so it wasn't all bad

OBVIOUSLY at this early stage, rain is predicted, but the F1 trucks showing up at the track on Wednesday will sort that out, expect SUNNY SKIES and Max Verstappen world champion 2021 :whistling:

Just seeing Mercedes and RedBull closer together makes every race this season so much better than the last few. No overtaking needed for that.

Mazepin might survive Tamburello, but not Tosa

At least, Imola's scenery is quite charming and it is a beauty to watch. Don't think it will be as nice as in the autumn, but still worth it.

at least the low temperatures might decrease tire grip

Even though it's difficult to overtake, I do look forward to Imola. I think it's because the narrow old tracks give you a better sense of speed. Grass and gravel run off is always more satisfying to watch as well - not only does it punish mistakes, but it increases the likelihood of retirements and Safety Cars to spice things up. If we do get some rain then it could be a great race.

Being an American and not paying attention to most of the news recently, the F1 time changes were honestly how I first heard he had passed rofl

I would understand if it happened in the British GP weekend, but does anyone outside of the UK give a damn?

It´s only practice so who cares, but it´s stunning that a worldwide followed event, hosted in Italy, changes something because some dude in the UK died. Until it was reported in the news that he frequently went to a hospital but was still surviving, I didn´t know he was still alive.

There's a very long-running joke in the UK that he actually died years ago and was kept active through dark magic.

Some of those NASCAR names are cool. But only the shorter ones like Food City 500, Die Hard 500 or Budweiser at The Glen :p

The Helluva Good Sour whatever crap remains the worst of them all

GFS expects some rain, but I doubt it.

I saw some of this race last season and I thought it was very meh. The fact the last chicane is gone and the Variante Alta isn't the way I remembered it, really took away a lot of what I still liked here.
Mostly I remember god awful races here.

Well, races at Suzuka always suck, but I'd still rather take 6 consecutive races at Suzuka than any at usual tilkedromes.
With Suzuka, and Imola I think, Free Practice sessions are probably more enjoyable than the race because you don't have any expectations, so you cannot be disappointed if nothing happens. 8)

Also with Monaco, it has quite often been the case that incident-filled practice and qualifying is followed by a total borefest. Can't help feeling schadenfreude for the casuals who only tune in for the race and get disappointed.

I must say it annoys me a little bit too. I get that 7 out of 10 teams are based in Britain, but just pretend it is worldwide.

My mother can't stand watching any motorsport for more than 30 seconds before feeling desperately bored. But feels like she can watch a 5 hour parade race at Monaco any time.

As for me, any modern tilkedrome track that with all it's tarmac run-offs has a big giant MEH painted before anything good that happens there. Artificial and uninspiring.
