One thing that does cross my mind a lot. What if, in the end, half the season gets canceled over this. Wouldnt that put an enormous * behind Hamilton's 7th or maybe Verstappen's/LeClerc's/Bottas' first title?

People for decades would talk about it and say stuff like "yeah, he won that title....but what if it was a full season? The other guy was catching up quick before the season got canceled...."

You mean how on the old count back/dropped race system Prost would be a 5 time World Champion and Senna two? As you know Prost actually scored more points in the season than Senna?

But those where the rules back then. You dont have to agree with them but that was the playing field.

If this corona thing really blows up the schedule will change multiple times mid-season thus the playing field will be altered multiple times.

they should make a non points race in Termas de Rio Hondo, there's nothing around there, just a vast countryside, no danger of diseases

too bad that the Argentine GP for MotoGP is scheduled on the same day as the Chinese GP

did I heard both races in the same weekend? F1 wouldn't want that as the bikes provide much more action on track than the cars

Spoiler:
Not F1 but...

That's not strictly true, last paper I read said the mortality rate of flu is less than 1%, whereas the mortality rate of Coronovirus is over 2%, plus the incubation period is so long before you start showing symptoms that the infection rate is going to be much higher as a result (you generally go down with flu a couple days after exposure, not a month later).

Sure there is fear mongering and hysteria, but take it from somebody who as a young, fit and healthy 12 year old was nearly killed by viral pneumonia (the main component of Coronovirus) this will be so much worse than the seasonal flu. Seasonal flu doesn't fill your lungs up with liquid which in turn causes a fungus to grow on your lung material, suffocating you in the process (if you're really unlucky like I was), viral pneumonia does.

Took me six to nine months to recover, and I have permanent lung damage as a result, the only thing this has in common with flu is that both start out as a cold, if anything TPTB are playing down the risks associated with it, and on the flip side, the media is going OTT.

But if you want to get anywhere fast, rub water on your brow and start coughing really loudly, the crowds in front of you will part like the seas did for Moses.

Plus, there's even people that do get contaminated but don't get sick, that are kinda immune to the effects and keeps living their life as a normal living being, but still can contaminate everyone around himself. This is really scary.

Again, not much difference with the common cold and the normal flu that happen every year.

Does Mugello have a license to host a race if it was required. It would be pretty fun to watch them tackle the Arrabbiata corners with the current cars.

That's still in Northern Italy, so if there is panic around Monza, then Mugello and Imola are too close.

With the current situation in Northern Italy, would this have any effect on Ferrari and AT being allowed to travel to Australia?
The Australians are pretty strict with whats allowed in their country and what not.

At this stage it appears not.

Another nice track but is it up to par for F1 standards?

My off-the-wall prediction is that about 5 races will be cancelled and on the scheduled race days of all of them, it'll be raining

I'll be satisfied if they cancel Paul Ricard and Barcelona

*Paul Ricard and Barcelona stay while Spa and Monza are wiped away*

People who visited Italy have taken the virus back to Austria, Spain, France, Germany, Brazil...

Some Serie A football games in Italy will be played without crowds, so that might be an option I guess, but would be really weird for F1, like that!

The Middle Eastern races and China would like to have word with you about that.

Can't wait to see how many seconds Mercedes is ahead of the rest

Back onto Corona, Ferrari's factory is located in the north where the virus is spreading. What if an employee catches it there, then they bring parts to the tests, half the team is sick and they have to skip Melbourne lmao.

2 good links about Coronavirus

For those of you who didn't catch his press conference today, Dr. Bruce Aylward (renowned expert who led the team of experts on the ground in China), had a few alarming comments about the seriousness of the disease. ( source: https://youtu.be/-o0q1XMRKYM?t=3058)

"The bottom line is this virus kills people... it kills our elderly and vulnerable... but this is not always the case - young people do die of this disease even in industrialized countries. People are looking at this saying that but in China they don't have this, they don't have that, etc. If I had COVID-19, I'd want to be treated in China. We'd go into these hospitals, how many ventilators do you have? 50-60. A scale we aren't used to seeing. How many ECMO systems do you have? 5. We don't have that in Europe. When we look at how dangerous this disease is, we have to be careful looking at the China data. China know how to keep people alive from COVID - they are super committed to it and they are making a massive investment in it. That is not going to be the case everywhere in the world.... It is a serious disease and I worry that people are going to look at the China numbers and get a false sense of security."

He also goes on to share during the question period that he doesn't think there is a significant "iceberg" of mild cases that we aren't seeing in China because some community testing hasn't really shown that.

And this report, can't post it here due to some non-supported characters.
