The last few races here have been very difficult to overtake (or to even get within DRS range). I don't think that the new aero regulations will make any difference to that.

It could be a procession. However, it's one of those circuits where we often see a Safety Car. Hopefully something like that can mix things up, because the pace of Mercedes is slightly worrying (praying that Ferrari and Red Bull have good race pace).

Whatever happens, there's something about this race that I just enjoy. It might be because it's the first race of the season, but I also think it's because it's more fun to watch the cars go around a circuit with lots of greenery and gravel. Even if nothing is happening, any slight mistake can lead to a retirement and shake things up.

New Charlie is gonna hammer that VSC button until Mercedes fuck up their strategy lololool

Good God you are such an idiot.

I wish I was a dumb Lewis fan like you.

Btw are you mentally retarded? Just asking so I know for sure.

I dunno man, ppl aren't allowed to deviate from the mandatory Lewis hate here are they?

Or deal in facts instead of certain speculation

It seems I'm onto a winner either way, either Lewis wins and I orgasm because I'm such a mentally retarded Lewis fan, or Lewis doesn't win and I get to say "Ha, all you idiots that wrote of the season based on one qualy session...HA!"

BTW are you a polite internet forum poster? No? Ok then.
Just a discussion forum about a racing series mann.....

I guess you are praying to race to be like qualifying, which in fact will be

Tomorrow Lewis will have been on pole in Australia for 6 consecutive GPS. In the previous 5 he’s won once.

The defeatism in this thread is hilarious. Maybe the GP will be a Lewis walkover, maybe it won’t as he could have reliability issues (2014), muff the start (2016), be outraced by Vettel (2017) or have bad luck with the VSC (2018). Who knows.

2018 Australian GP Qualifying
1. Hamilton 1:21.164
3. Vettel + 0.674

2019 Australian GP Qualifying
1. Hamilton 1:20.486
3. Vettel + 0.704

Last year Mercedes had a better pace at Melbourne but Ferrari was the best car during the first half of the season. We could be seeing a similar story this year.

However, I have the impression Ferrari wasn't expecting such dominance from Mercedes and they were caught off guard this time with a similar gap compared to last year. It has a lot to do with higher expectations that were not fulfilled.

I'm also seeing that Mercedes didn't expect such dominance as well, and aren't really understanding why they're so much faster again

It's sorta the opposite of Singapore 2016, when they they low and they didn't know why?

If anyone has a VPN and is looking for a stream for the race, set it to Australia and watch from the Channel 10 website here:

https://tenplay.com.au/live

It is a reliable stream, none of these pop up ads with malware. It is the free to air telecast so has ads but is a secure and safe stream

ESPN doing ESPN things

Pit Lane Live was never aired on ESPN app

post-game show for Oregon / Washington is pre-empting the coverage on ESPN so far, and they haven't put On The Grid on ESPN app either

edit: only went up after the post-game ended for the app as well. Was fearing a 2013 Charlotte fall race situation again
