Melbourne
When Formula One came to Australia in 1985 it set up home in Adelaide. However, ex-racer-turned-entrepreneur Bob Jane wanted a race in Melbourne. He created a huge 'thunderdome' and invented the AUSCAR series, bringing NASCAR action to Australia.

The desire to have a race in Melbourne did not wane. Despite the popular end of season slot for the Adelaide race, pressure was growing from the Melbourne motor sport community, and in 1992 Jeff Kennett was elected the new premier of the State of Victoria. He immediately set about improving Melbourne's profile. First on his list was the Australian Grand Prix.

An agreement was reached with Formula One in 1993, but the contract with Adelaide did not expire until 1995, so Kennett had plenty of time to prepare.

A track was developed in Melbourne's beautiful Albert Park, part of it using closed-off public roads, and in 1996 the city held the first round of the world championship.

Since then the race has become very popular with drivers and fans alike, and the party atmosphere of Melbourne keeps them coming back year after year.

Finally!

4 months without moaning how terrible F1 is now and how it used to be better in the past is over!

Finally a chance to disbelieve all weather reports and watch weather reports a few days before the race and then see cars raced during bone-dry conditions (except for practice when obviously it will rain every event and stop cars from coming on track)

And I haven't got annoyed by anything Sky Sports have said and done in a while either.
Time for that to change.

Also: cars with too much downforce will put on a procession at this track. Calling it.

My Passion is back!

Please stop with all this weather talk. You’re hyping it, which means it’ll be dry and warm come race day.

Wouldn't they change Melbourne circuit layout? I heard somewhere I don't know where that layout would be changed, turns 1 and 2 If I'm not mistaken.

But no matter what, I'll prefer watching Supercars race rather than F1.

If you're up early, Triple M are giving them away to people who take part in their quiz at 6:15am.

I'll be watching at home, my footy team is playing at the same time so I'll be split-screening.

So if I don't get any questions right (pretty likely on a triple M quiz) they'll still give me a ticket? And do they do pairs or just single tickets?

If there's rain expected, that's a guaranteed safety car start then :flag:

Although Singapore last year did reverse the usual trend.

It's usually always around this time, infact the 2015 race happened on the 15th March and the early 2000's it was the start of March, so the 25th of March for this year is in some respects fairly late

Yeah, I'm just busy with a lot of other events this year. Sebring, Nascar with Teo Jose, the new Indy, and my 5 weekly NR2003 races... :D

Let's not forget the expert analysis after the race on how to fix F1.

Fernando is feeling confident enough about this weekend that he's asking Twitter for career advice

Yeh WTF do they have full wet rain tyres for?
This aint Nascar where bird shits on track and its red flag, but unfortunatley thats exsactly how it was in the past rain races...
Hopefully they continue like it was in Singapore 17, no SC

That’s only half true

Autosport.com wrote:
F1 races this year may feature standing starts after red-flag periods, with the cars being led by a safety car before forming up on the grid.

So in actuality only red flagged races MAY feature grid restarts. Restarts following SC periods remain unaltered.
