A better prospect than the British Joey Logano in the orange car. All he has to is beat his team-mate and Lewis' seat will be his when the contracts expire.

So that leaves one Toro Rosso and one Williams seat open?

I don't think nu-FIF1 have confirmed anyone yet but there aren't any prizes for guessing that lineup.

There was a rumour that Wehrlein was told this week that Red Bull no longer had any interest in him because they were intent on offering the STR seat to Albon.

The rumour mill is churning for Williams - Markelov's chances are now just about 0 after his father got nicked, but they apparently aren't too happy with Sirotkin's performances so his renewal is not guaranteed and another rumour says that Kubica has managed to dredge up another few Euros from somewhere, which would put him as favourite. Not sure who else has the money and the superlicense points to get a look in.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Schumacher gets enough if he finishes at least third in Euro F3 I've heard

But they wouldn't go for an all rookie lineup unless there's a lot of money in it.

so Williams is still surviving but how they will develop the car without experienced drivers?

Albon is racing under Thailand licence, Red Bull has Thai origins. It's a done deal for sure.

Vandoorne to Formula E also announced. Now what will Ocon do? 3rd driver for Merc?

Well Williams have said they're not ruling Ocon out but I'd doubt he'd have a chance. Someone get the sponsorship for him, he'd be better for Williams than Kubica.

Kubica has 10 million $$$ to boost his chances. The only question remains whether Williams would be fine with Russell/Sirotkin since the lack of a veteran driver has hurt them this season to the point they are the laughing stock of F1.

Bottas only has a contract for 2019, right? So I can see Ocon sitting out next season as Merc third driver and then replacing him in 2020.

Given it's all gone quiet on the Stroll-to-Force-India-for-Austin front, I'd suggest Kubica's not going to race in F1 again. I can't see Williams taking a chance on him, money or not - the teams are far too conservative to give someone with his limitations a go, even if they were just as good or better than the drivers around him. I can see Sirotkin squeezing out another year there

I disagree, this year's F2 is a lot like F3 2014, with Lando Norris in the Max Verstappen role and Russell in the Ocon role

Ocon and Russell will be great drivers, but they're not that little bit extra special like Max and Norris seem to be.

Saying that, in 5 years time I expect both Norris and Russell to be winning
Norris in Indycar and Russell in Formula E after their careers are in tatters from the formerly great teams they're now anchored to.

Outside of the twitter quote error (PHBB ever fixing that??), it's interesting how a talented junior driver's reputation can be left in tatters due to one year in an unreliable car...

Good luck to both Lando and George then!

(Also how you can underachieve for years in the ladder series, yet a quarter of a season dominating racing with interesting tactics from your team sees you as the new god. :whistling:  )

It's possible as well. But then Russell would have to have a Leclerc-like year for Williams to avoid another mess of a season. However he's outshone Norris in F2 despite all the earlier Norris hype so he can be the true diamond in the rough while Norris stumbles through like Vandoorne (allthough Sainz as his teammate is miles better than Alonso and his 'all eyez on me' act).

Did anyone actually watch F2 this year?

It was pretty much a lottery because of the renault clutch/engine issues in the first half of the season.

If I was lando's management I'd have pushed for a 2nd year in F2 because it's not like jumping to Mclaren for next year is going to do anything but harm his reputation further, the way that team is going.

Yeah, I watched the F2 and Sette Camara's had far more mechanical issues compared to Norris.

If I was Lando’s management I’d be firing myself for placing him in a team that has never shown any true form in any series in other than pre-2014 British F3 and has a pretty terrible track record in GP2/F2.

I love stories like that

Journalist asks driver a question, driver responds with ill thought out ideas about spicing up the show, journalist thinks they have a scoop, splashes it on the front page. Uneducated haters shout "Stick to driving, foo'", the cycle continues every 2 months or so.

But in the end, it matters not what any driver thinks about spicing up the show, they don't get a say in that.
Even if The FIA decided to listen to hamilton, he'll be long gone by the time they implimented anything he suggested anyway.

But oh well, fills up pages doesn't it.

Next week break between races: "Hamilton thinks F1 should race at the olympics/x games" "Hamilton thinks F1 should run a 24 hour race" and other bullshit that doesn't matter.

Or maybe Hamilton is eyeing a run in politics once he retires and is lining up a challenge to replace Todt as the head of the FIA.

Well here's a thought to spice up the show for Lewis. Reverse grid?? yes yes...for the previous race winner, them and them alone. Would that be spicy enough for you Lewis?

Can we stop interviewing Lewis already? I'm sick and tired of the garbage they write about him or the garbage that comes out of his mouth.

just reverse the grid for the drivers wearing the number 44, and if they go slow on purpose make him start at the back anyway

He tried that at Silverstone, kind of. And Seb inadvertently finishes lap one of many GPs each year from last place.

So the theory works.
