Unpopular opinion but has stoffel actually shown he belongs in F1. Yes he is hindered by a subpar car but the likes of verstappen, leclerk and Ocon have shown their brilliance in lesser cars

I most certainly believe he does....but he has to start showing it. Otherwise you will be right, the perception will be that he doesn't. I kind of like his two years to that of Perez in 2013. Had big wraps on him and then didn't deliver with a bad car against an established champion.

I just hope he doesn't become a Jan Magnussen.

Kimi Räikkönen's autobiography was released today and first print was sold out within three hours. The batch was 50.000 books, not including e-books, which is very big batch in Finnish market and selling it out this fast is unheard of.

Judging by the captions media has made public today, it seems like Räikkönen really is quite a character. Lotus years seem to be more tribute to James Hunt than just a special Monaco helmet.

"I used to smoke when I was younger, but not during my active years. Except when I get drunk, then I smoke. And I'm drunk a lot."

"For a race driver I've drank f*cking a lot. I guess I've drink more than the others [F1-drivers in the grid], multiple times."

”Buongiorno alla tutti!” That went quite well, Kimi thought afterwards.

This only Italian line Kimi said in his first Ferrari press conference, but just few minutes earlier Räikkönen was found from a hotel room floor of a Finnish actor he'd been drinking the night with, still reeking of booze. Ferrari's PR director was not pleased.

Few years later Kimi was partying in Finnish Lapland with ski jumping legend Matti Nykänen (google him if you don't know all ready!). After partying, Kimi was found sleeping in a heated clothes drying closet, wearing nothing else except Nykänen's Olympic ski jumping suit. This is new information, at the time Nykänen was interviewed about the partying with Räikkönen and all Nykänen said that "he respects Kimi a lot, he doesn't spit in the glass."

I've always thought media likes to exaggerate their stories to sell more papers, but in Räikkönen's case they've seemed to done the opposite, maybe thinking that no one would believe the stories.

Seems to be like a great book!

How does Nykanen's liver still remain in one piece? He's living on borrowed time for the last 15 years or something?

Hard to say. But allegedly he jumped Olympic gold in Lillehammer's heavy fog while intoxicated. So living on a borrowed time for 30 years...

It's curious for me how Alonso in 2016 may have guessed the McLaren drivers for next year, when he was asked about his favourite F1 driver pairing. Also this could tell us something about his role in McLaren the next seasons.

That'll be pretty damning of their young driver program if they keep bringing back those previously dropped.

There isn't much to choose from their young drivers program, though.

They need twice the young driver program to keep pace with all the older drivers they treat like shit or kick to the curb.

Vergne comes across as a whiny child in the FE radio highlights, I'll love to see everybody complain about that.

Anyway, F1's Youtube channel with a very interesting video, showing the directors audio feeds as Vettel crashed in Germany.

Found very interesting the need to show the "story" of Vettel's crash rather than stuff like Sirotkin retiring or Hamilton aborting his stop.

Despite my ambivalence towards the current state of F1, I would dearly love to have any job involved in it....but after hearing that one? Yeah....no I will pass. Imagine doing that for the entire weekend.

I studied media production at college, and it did seem to be a very odd industry-specific thing that this kind of busy talking-over-each-other method is much more effective than being quiet and polite, and probably one of the few places where blurting out everything is helpful. A good director and crew learn to find the important info and filter out everything else.

Bear in mind that's during one of the most hectic moments of the season, I imagine most of the weekend is reasonably calm, except for starts, finishes and battles.

If you're working with multiple cameras on something live, 'calm' is usually just the same sort of noise with less shouting

Even boring things like a news broadcast with two cameras can get pretty busy.

Engines rules might not change in 2021, new manufacturers are no longer interested.
