Infiniti is a Nissan brand, so it's not really a stretch like it was on the Renault-powered F1 cars.

Then again, my wife's Renault has a Nissan engine in it, so anything's possible :D

so following England defeat looks like the statistic of the country that wins world cup never wins F1 championship in the same year. Hamilton and Vettel can now feel relief as both are out

2014: Germany/Hamilton (UK) (Rosberg finished 2nd after a poor Abu Dhabi GP)
2010: Spain/Vettel (Ger) (very close for Alonso to the double for Spain)
2006: Italy/Alonso (Spa) (Fisichella started the season very strong but Alonso was better)
2002: Brazil/Schumacher (Ger) (very close for Germany)
1998: France/Hakkinen (Fin) (no french driver fighting for championship neither Finland playing in WC)
1994: Brazil/Schumacher (Ger) (Senna had a fatal crash and Germany was eliminated by Bulgaria)
1990: Germany/Senna (Bra) (no german drivers in top spots and Brazil eliminated by Argentina)
1986: Argentina/Prost (Fra) (no argentine drivers in top spots and France out on semifinals)
1982: Italy/K. Rosberg (Fin) (no finns at the World Cup, no italian drivers on championship contention)
1978: Argentina/Andretti (USA/Italy) (Italy finished 4th/no USA in the WC, Reutemann finished 3rd)
1974: Germany/Fittipaldi (Bra) (no german drivers in championship contention, Brazil lost in semifinals)
1970: Brazil/Rindt (Aut) (Austria didn't took part in WC, no brazilian drivers racing for championship)
1966: England/Brabham (Aus) (Surtees was runner up way behind Brabham, Australia didn't played world cup)
1962: Brazil/Hill (UK) (Brazil didn't had top drivers in F1, England lost on quarterfinals to Brazil)
1958: Brazil/Hawthorne (UK) (Brazil didn't had top drivers in F1, England out in first round)
1954: Germany/Fangio (Arg) (Argentina declined to play in WC, no german drivers in title contention)
1950: Uruguay/Farina (Ita) (Italy out on first round, no uruguayan drivers in F1)

The VH45 was never sold in a NA Nissan.

Lots of engines are used in both Nissan and Renault.

So France is going to win because Grosjean sucks big time?

Robert Kubica has confirmed something that's been long rumored which is that prior to his rally accident he'd signed an agreement with Ferrari to race for them alongside Alonso in 2012 for less money than he was getting at Renault.

He also said that he nearly backed out of the rally because "the team I was going to drive for next year, I was not allowed to rally" but that he opted to take part in order to not let the team down.

So Robert would be fulfilling the Kimi role of being number 2 to first Alonso and now Vettel??

I guess that makes me feel a little better.
Despite his talent, his career was never going to hit the heights of a championship run having to run the wonky alternate strategy every weekend to favour the number 1 driver.

Either he could just have enough of it and jump to Mercedes and bye bye Nico and the last 4 years could have been a bit closer to Senna x Prost

the main concern is that in 2012 Ferrari was pretty average compared to Red Bull and even McLaren

but in the following years Kubica could had been a great development asset of the car, win-win situation for Ferrari

Tell me about it man. Got depressed at all the Picassos and the similar stupid-looking French-made cars the first few days back to Paris from a trip to Canada. They all look so goofy.

funny that if you look to french cars from 30-40 years ago you'll see awesome cars, hot hatches and innovative stuff, they even made F1 engines haha

Who says he was never going to hit the heights? What if he crushed Alonso in 2012? He was pretty good.

Alonso's contract probably...

For 2021 F1 will feature 21" rims & tyre warmers will be banned. Front tyre width will be reduced from 305mm to 270mm, Rear width will remain at 405mm.

Tyre supply contract is open & anyone interested in the 2020-2023 supply deal must submit an entry by August 31st 2018 which will be looked at by the FIA before been sent to Liberty who will have make there selection before sending it back to the FIA for final approval.

This is awesome news! Love single seaters with thin fronts.

Tyre warmers have always been ridiculous, glad to see them go. People who don't know racing always chuckle when they first see that... cute tiny little blankets for those shiny little precious tyres to keep them warm...

Everybody on Reddit is freaking out about the lack of tire warmers and how it's going to ruin racing. Has nobody ever watched any other fucking racing series on the planet that doesn't use tire warmers??? One of my favorite things about IndyCar is the struggle on cold tires on the out lap after a pit stop.
