Disney throwing the kitchen sink at it because they know they can't compete on quality. No Sky broadcast to piggyback on here.

I don't care if ABC offered the whole season while NBC offered a wet fart, I'd still take NBC.

Doesn't matter which network gets more races, both are turds you can't ice.

The production crew / direction of NBCSN right now is far better than ABC... honestly in some ways I don't care who hosts the race as long as (if on ABC) they ditch ABC's current crew for NBCSN's crew. :p

From my perspective, though, ABC/ESPN also hasn't shown that they cared much about Indycar over the last few years... indeed, with ESPN seeming to think that talking heads yelling something about sports is more important than sports itself these days, I'm not sure what sports they care about at all these days. My "armchair exec" sense would say stay far away from them, regardless of what sport you are.

The only reason I can see Indycar going with ABC is if NBC is stupid with streaming / Internet media. Indycar's doing pretty good with Internet media from what I see (unlike, say, F1 during the Bernie years), you wouldn't want to lose that.

ESPN is going to roll out an all streaming service independent of any cable provider. That could be good in terms of availability.

NBC is superior in all ways though and I hope they get the contract.

Another awesome A.J. quote in there....
"We got 15 gallons of diesel fuel and dropped it and set those bastards on fire. I felt a lot better after that."

While we all know this is most likely just smoke in attempts to get what they want from the FIA. It does make me wonder with all of the FCA / Alfa Romeo rumors flying around & with Scuderia Corsa running the 500 with RLLR.

FCA is the company that manufactures those ugly Fiats you see in your nearby roads, RLLR is a team owned by that bald former IndyCar champion and that old talkshow host

It would make sense for Alfa Romeo to come to Indycar. They're increasing their US presence and they run small displacement turbo engines. It's a good marketing opportunity.

On the flip side, FCA has their own issues with multiple recalls on their RAM line of pickups and they too got busted for altering their Diesel mapping in the half ton ECO-Diesel RAM's so one wonders if they will really want to lay out the financial resources. Of course, they could just partner with Cosworth since they have an Indycar engine all designed, just need someone to pay to put a badge on it.

Didn't they say that last year too?

Pretty sure Bestwick put out "I have called my last Indycar race" type tweets only to turn up again this year

Because Bestwick (and Cheever, and Goodyear, and everyone else who was employed by Disney) got fired just before Indy last year and were under the impression that they would not be needed for this year.

I have no idea what Disney's original plan was for 2018 when they sacked all their motorsports people, but clearly it changed as all 3 of the Stooges were back last weekend. Although if none of the others were brought back, it might explain the terrible direction.

This, on the other hand, seems to be either a leak or a premature release of a Disney statement.
